Dec 13, 2002 If only you had traffic then maybe hits on the web site. Then sales! It’s everybody’s dream in the age of the Internet. You have two choices, paid and free traffic. The results are about the same. I tried both and found that the free traffic route can be made to work. I doubt that paid advertising we ever bring you a return. You buy 50,000 banner hits and think this will send 100’s of hits to your site. Wrong! I hope for a click throu rate of about 25 to 50. Maybe a couple of sales. Unless you made $20.00 profit you will be in the hole and needs to buy more ads. These are the basic Internet advertising methods, Email, Text links, Start/Exit Pages, Auto Surf, Search Engines and Banners. Email, A big waste of disk storage space. I have special address that I send junk mail to and delete once a day with out reading. Banners, A low hit ratio but if cheap or free then use them. Some products are better suited for banners. Text Links, Much better hit ratio the banners. Lots of different free programs to join. Search Engines, Might only be 5% of traffic to your site but it is required that you get listed. You can spend time and do it for free or spend as little as $2.00 for 100 big sites listings. But do not spend big money for this service. If your product is one that nobody enters the keywords for then you will not get traffic. Some of the most searched for words are yahoo, google, search engine, and of course sex. That is great if these words apply to your site! Auto Surf, You will get 1000’s of displays. It’s free and what else is your computer doing at night. People are awake in other countries and sometimes you do get a hit or two. Start Pages, The best chance for a sale. Somebody is clicking that next button and your web page had 30 seconds to grab his attention. You must surf to earn start pages or buy them. New Start Page & Auto Surf Programs: Pros 1.) Many NEW programs give huge Credit/Hits benefits when first starting. Great sign-up and referral bonuses. A good way to quickly build up credits. Limited time free signups during pre- launch. 2.) Better chance of recruiting referrals in new program. People like to join the newest clubs. Cons 1.) At first your sites is only shown to a small crowd of surfers. 2.) You need to Surf and Promote the site for several months and hope the site gains enough surfers to survive. 3.) Often you may get 1000's of hits on account and get a few displays of your site. If you don't surf, you do not get displays but if you surf, you get less returns then you are surfing. If a program does not have enough members to use the Bonus credits being given out it might be time to cut your loses. I have one account with over 250,000 hits and get about 50 displays a day. I will never use these because I have to surf and stay active and generate more credits everyday. 4.) Many times when you sign in some morning the URL is no longer active; gone are your credits. Then a new appears to take it’s place. Dependable Long Time Exchanges Generally these sites deliver only a few sign up Hits/Credits. But they deliver traffic every day matching what you are surfing. Quick dependable servers. Many offer incentives to top surfers. If you surf each day you will get your fair exchange of traffic. If you only join one auto surf, this is it. Surf Ratio / Delivering Traffic With free memberships Surf Ratio starting at 2:1 and going to 1:1. It is certainly better to get a 1:1 ratio but only if you are getting displays of your site and not just collecting points. Many sites display their active members enrolled. Some display the active users online at any moment. Use this to gauge the amount of hits that you are likely to receive. Start Page or Auto Surf Start Page exchanges will give you the best chance for a Hit on your site. But if your computer is idle and connected to DSL/Cable then you might as well run as many Auto Surf exchanges as you can. If you display enough pages then someone will click on them. Exit Page and Pop-ups These have become a real pain for any surfer. Many traffic exchanges are banning exit/popup programs because of their abuse. I like many other serious surfers now run a Popup/Exit stopper and never see them. Banners If you display enough banners you will get traffic. Depending on Banner Design, Product displayed, which network is displaying the Banner, 10,000 displays might get you 10 to 150 hits. Not a great return. You can use your Start/Auto Surf traffic to generate banners display credits by setting up a banner exchange and using the traffic received to get banner exchanges. You can also join exchanges like BraStart and DownLineDepot and exchange surfing credits for banner displays on their network. Text Links Text Links are one of the most effective advertising methods. Text links are cheap to buy and displayed at the top of most traffic exchange networks. BoinicHits gives you 1 Text Link credit for site surfed. When you get 100 credits your can display your link at the top of the network display until someone else surfs 100 sites. Your link is then moved down the list. There are many different type of Text Link exchanges. Check around and see what the best offers are. *** Please never join sites unless you plan to surf to earn your signup bonus.
