Password Protection... How safe are you?
Mar 10, 2003

Often times, there is a conflicting understanding of passwords; and if you are truly safe from hackers. One way to be totally safe and to be absolutely sure that you are safe the prying eyes of hackers, is to create a fool proof password. Some will swear up and down that all letters are good enough, while others say that all numbers is the best option.

Well folks, I am here to set this record straight. To fully safeguard your websites and e- mail accounts from being hacked, it is 100% advised to use a combination of both numbers and letters. The one thing that I should point out, is that it is a good idea to come up with a password that would be easy for you to remember. An example would be, two or three numbers that would represent something of great importance to you; and a word that would have a special meaning to you. Below is a small listing of some sample passwords. Bear in mind, these are not actual passwords; nor should you try these out for your own use ( as others reading this same article will try them out too ).

As a good word of thumb, it is very wise to write in your secret password onto a separate sheet of paper ; and then keep it in a good place so that you will know of where it is ; should you forget what your password is. Another good source of keeping your secret password handy is on a CD-Rom or a 3.5 diskette. That way, should you have many passwords to websites, your passwords will only be on CD-Rom and not on your hard drive ( susceptible to anyone who accesses your computer system ).
