The Second Coming of Terrell?
Feb 22, 2003

Steve Mariucci's move to Detroit doesn't come without some notable benefits, particularly being able to work with upcoming star quarterback Joey Harrington. Harrington showed flashes of brilliance at times during a lackluster 2002 for Detroit. Marrucci will probably employ Detroit's early draft pick to give Harrington a top-notch target. Mariucci would love to bring a Terrell Owens-style player to the club (sans verbal sparring of course) and this could mean choosing Charles Rogers. Rogers, a Michigan State standout, is a big, quick go-to receiver that should be a "plug and play" prospect. At 6'3", 210 pounds, he runs a 4.4 forty time and is considered the top wide receiver in the draft.

Teaming Rogers with the super quick Az-Zahir Hakim would noticeably upgrade Detroit's passing game. Detroit also has a running back with fine receiving abilities, Aveion Cason, that could add to the mix. Watch for Detroit to grab Rogers with their top draft pick, which is second to only Cincinnati, and give Harrington's gun a quality target.
