Support Our Troops
Feb 22, 2003

People often think that if a person doesn’t have an educational goal and doesn’t know what they want to do with their life, then they are “useless”. But if you look at the big picture, it’s really not the case. People are all different, and everyone is one unique individual who tends to leave a mark on life in some form or another in their lifetime. Some tend to early on leave a lasting signature in the form of a great impression, and some seem to find their calling later on in life.

After high school graduation, life usually takes on a new meaning for many, as some decide to go on with their education and become someone strong and powerful, and then there are those who are unsure of their life’s path and have no idea what to do with themselves or what they want out of life. So it is then, when they go on a journey to find themselves, as some even join the armed forces in order to find their life’s meaning.

But then there are many who believe that joining the armed forces because you didn’t want to go to College because you were unsure of what you wanted to do, is just plain stupid and in- excusable. It is according to them, that you’re just plain lazy and unmotivated, just heading down the wrong path, possibly leading to failure. That’s just wrong, since everyone has a different outlook on life.

What these people often don’t seem to realize is that in today’s world with the economy being down in the dumps, is that the armed forces may just be one way of paying for your college education. The armed forces offer reservists as well as active duty military personnel a chance for a paid college education and then of course there’s the chance of war happening like it is now.

No one really wants to be a part of a war, nor do they even want to be associated with the gruesome pictures that war may bring some event or picture they may remember forever, some image forever captured in their mind. But its their job and their duty to their country that tells these people to pack up and move out, and go to fight for their freedom and their country as well as their believe in what’s right.

Thousands of troops are being called up at this moment, to serve their country, and non believers in the military just seem to sit back and laugh over a nice meal at dinner thinking, “Those dumb guys are gonna get themselves killed” What a joke!” Oh boy.

I don’t know what your reaction is to this, but I feel that it’s quite ignorant, coming from a person who is a non-believer in their military.

The way I see it, is this, thousands of guys are currently out there somewhere, just wishing they would be home like us doing what we do on a daily basis, may it be chatting, writing an article such as this or doing something as simple as relaxing on a Lazy Boy while watching our most favorite TV shows, as we get our nightly fix of laughter from watching dumb and dorky commercials.

But instead of doing all that, they there somewhere, trying to do their best to do their job so that ignorant non believers in the military can just sleep peacefully each night under their blankets in a warm bed, knowing they are being well taken care of. It’s not quit fair, or is it?

I assume from those ignorant remarks that there are many out there who would never put themselves on the line just in fear of perhaps coming home in a box if it leads to some casualties. But that’s unpatriotic in wrong. What’s wrong with this picture.

People make fun of the people in the armed forces since they are unwilling to put themselves out there, yet if the news broadcasts about casualties in a war or a friendly fire accident these people who were non believers in the armed forces automatically seem to want to jump to conclusions and want to bring down the roof on who ever is responsible. Why the sudden change of tune? That’s kind of odd isn’t it?

The way I see it is that we should always support our troops. These guys don’t get paid enough as is, but they do need as much support as they can get as they too are afraid in some form or another about this upcoming war and fear about tapping into a new territory.

Many of the armed forces members are young guys who’ve never seen real combat, and then there are those among them who have been exposed to it in some form another perhaps once or twice. All troops are getting ready to pack up and move out, uncertain of what it is that awaits them at the time of their arrival. All are missing home as they will be away for quite some time, but I am sure where ever they get send to be, they will do their job and they will do it well. So, support our troops everybody!!
