Apr. 10, 2003 This week is the crowning glory for golfers. This week The Masters will be played and the sad part of it all is there will be people there to protest the fact that no women are allowed as members. I see absolutely nothing wrong with that, as I believe that each gender, race, religion should be allowed certain places of their own where they do not have to deal with outside interference. The women sit back and yell for equality, but if we take a closer look, we see that only applies to the good things. Women wanting equal pay or treatment when doing the same tasks does not bother me in the least. I would think that to be only fair. If person A can do as good or better than person B, then they should be getting the same pay, benefits, awards, etc.. as the other. That is not what I take to issue here. I find it rather hard to swallow that in this day and age everyone is calling foul and thus making the white male the biggest minority in America. Let’s just take a look around at a few things. Women can have their own business clubs. Business Professional Women’s club has a chapter right here where I live. But should there be some club for just men, and they would be beating on the door with a judge’s order to let women in or disband. You know they would. Look at the people that sit back and cry foul, and then look at what they have that they are not going to come right out and let others know. You will find that there are all-African American colleges, all-women colleges, Black Entertainment Television, Spanish channels, Women’s Entertainment, a Black Miss America Pageant, and so on and so forth. You get the gist of what I am talking about. There are no more all-male colleges as the women have forced their way into each and every one of them, while still being allowed to keep some of theirs all-female. Now that is the women’s idea of equality. Getting what they want without giving up anything in return. They want to keep what they have and then take away from the rest so they can be “equal”. I still have a problem with the mandatory registration of all males with Selective Service when they turn 18 years old, yet these so-called equal women do not have to register. Is that really fair? No, but no one is willing to take up the fight to show that women are getting away with much more than men in this “equality” age. They pick a few examples to prove their point, but never will you see them admit to the fact that they enjoy their special privileges in many areas. They continually manipulate the numbers to show how they are not being treated the same as males. Well, I say you can’t have it both ways, so either be truly equal or just keep your mouth shut. All things else being equal, should a white male, a black male, a woman, a Laotian, a Korean, a Mexican all apply for the same job, it will be the white male that they look at last because they must check to see if they have met their “quota” of each of the other groups before they can even offer the white male the job. Still want to try and figure out who is the “real” minority in the world today?? I have no problem with women getting further up the ladder into “new” territory they have never been to. If they are as good as or better than the other candidates, then I would be more than willing to except the fact that they were the best qualified and deserve to be there. Many people say that a woman could never be President because they are too emotional in their decision-making processes. I strongly disagree, as I believe there are some women out there that would be well qualified to run this country as well as any man. I believe that Hillary did such an excellent job the first time around, I would probably vote for her (depending on who the opposition was) should she ever throw her hat into that ring. My only request of all those who fight for Women’s equal rights is that you take ALL as equal, not just the good things, unless you plan on redefining the word equal. May God watch over and help our troops as they free another country from another nasty ruler. ------------ Willis Kirk Jr. is a 38 year old who is currently back in a 2 year college on his way to a degree.
