Apr 19, 2004 They say that the number 1 killer is second hand smoke. They just don't realize that second hand smoke is all around us from all the vehicles on the roads these days. When smoking was banned from restaurants, then the people were saying, we don't care if you pollute the air with your vehicle. There are many vehicles I see that smoke worse than 1,000 people a year. But we don't ban them do we? Why? Because it probably belongs to a non-smoker who voted to ban smoking in restaurants. And why would be want to ban something that kills so many every year? Well, isn't that why we banned smoking? Vehicles pollute more than people who smoke so why don't we tax the heck out of the auto manufacturers? They cause more death than tobacco companies. Besides, how can they claim that second hand smoke causes these deaths when there is so much pollution already in the air? Because they would rather blame it on something that only a select number of people do and not what everyone does. Why share the blame when there is a group you can put the blame on instead? What about alcohol? Why is it all right to let kids know it’s all right to drink? Just don’t smoke. Smoking will kill you and others. It is a bad habit. Well isn’t drinking just as bad if not worse? Alcohol is seen all over the place. Sporting events, theme parks, presidential dinners and fund raising and just about everywhere else you go. Well I guess it doesn’t kill people does it? Wrong. People who drink are the cause of many deaths in America today. They kill themselves as well as others when they get behind the wheel after a few drinks. Why not tax drinkers more? Now they're saying that obesity might rise to the number 1 spot in deaths. Well if this happens are we going to ban obese people from restaurants and public places? Why not? What's the difference? If it's a killer I don't want to have to put up with it where I go. I don't want to have to see these people eating plate after plate of stuff. If we outlaw 1 killer in public places and restaurants, why not the other? Because then the obese people would say it is discrimination. Well, isn't singling out smokers a form of discrimination? Besides, there is a number 1 killer that they haven't mentioned yet. In my mind the number 1 killer in the world is life. Why not ban living? If there were no life then there would be no deaths. Why do we allow the number 1 killer to keep on killing? Because then the government wouldn't exist as would anyone. But I guess no matter what we have to blame something for deaths. No sense is saying, we were born to die. We have to die anyway so sue someone. That is the American way. Blame people’s death on something. Why not? Obliviously they weren't meant to die. Yeah right. Everyone is going to die someday and it doesn't matter what you do, it will get you in the end. You can't avoid it. Now what about all these people on the roads. What is it with these states thinking they should give anyone a driver’s license? I was in Florida taking my written test and driving test. I passed with no problem. Yet there was an Asian man ahead of me who couldn’t speak English. He couldn’t parallel park, do a 3 point turn let alone drive, yet I watched as they gave him a license. I was living in Colorado when I went to get my license renewed and there was a lady who was 85 in front of me. All she had to do was tell the guy whether the red dot was inside or outside the box. She couldn’t do it. The man eventually got tired of it and told her, it’s outside the box and she repeated what he said and he gave her a new license. I guess these states are so hungry for money they don’t care whether people can drive or not. The way they figure it out is they get more money for the license and then for tickets and then for accidents. Who regulates this stuff? I guess as long as you can pass the written part you can have a license. Does anyone even check on these people? I am waiting for someone to smash into me. If I find that person never should have gotten a license and they just gave it to them, then I will sue the DMV as it is their fault. As long as no one sues the DMV they will still be giving licenses out to anyone. This is what it is going to take to stop these states from being greedy. So, if you are involved in an accident and it is someone else’s fault, check these people out and see if they should have even gotten a license to begin with. If they didn’t then the DMV needs to be stopped for allowing people on the streets before you or I get killed by one of these drivers. Of course these are my opinions and some people don’t share the same view. That is all right.
