Apr 18, 2004 Turning the generator off, he proceeds towards the city. It looks like a normal type of city as he gets closer. Not seeing anything weird or strange, he decides to get a little closer. As he approaches the city, he notices a flying contraption the likes of nothing he has ever seen. Slowing down, he sees a small forest type of place and decides to hide the machine and go investigate. Maybe these will be normal type people. Pulling into the forest, he notices a small block of what looks like aluminum with some kind of wording written on it, he has never seen letters like that before. Figuring it was probably telling of what forest this is, he starts driving into the woods when the trees come alive. They encircle the machine and the limbs start trying to open the machine up. “Darn” Max says as he steps on the accelerator and hopes he gets out of this one alive. Veering to the right he just misses a tree and skates past. Looking for the closest way out of this place, Max spots an opening and heads the machine towards it. Just as he thinks he is going to make it, a tree limb grabs the rear of the machine before he has a chance to leave. Sweating, he steps on the brake and puts the machine into reverse. Backing up, the tree limb breaks and he hears a god awful screech. Looking back, he sees the entire forest converging on his spot. Stepping on the brake, he puts the machine into drive and hits the accelerator. As the machine lurches forward, the branch drags him down as it tries to attach to anything it can. The realization hits Max, when he tries to rev up to speed to activate the generator that the branch is not allowing him to get up to speed. Only getting the machine up to 38 miles per hour, he figures he will have to do something to get rid of the branch. When he looks back he sees he is far enough away from the forest, that he should have enough time to get out and try to remove the branch himself. Stopping the vehicle, he grabs a hatchet and proceeds cautiously to the rear of the machine. Seeing a branch that is about 5 feet long, he watches as it grows a foot within a minute. Raising the hatchet, he swings at the branch and severs it in half. Hearing a screech in the distance, he realizes that whatever tree this came from is still attached in some way. Swinging with all his might, he hopes to dislodge the branch long enough to get back in and leave. After the fourth swing he sees the branch has let the vehicle go and is trying to crawl towards him. “Oh no” Max says as he pushes the vehicle away from the branch. When he is a safe distance away, he climbs back in and heads away from the crazy forest heading towards him. Accelerating to speed, he activates the generator and flashes to another place. Thinking something is wrong, it takes Max awhile to realize that this planet is covered in a fog. He thought that maybe he was stuck in limbo from too many jumps too soon. It is only when he sees a big rock coming towards him that he realizes he is actually on a planet. Slamming on the brakes, he stops just before he crashes into the rock wall. Sweating from the thought that he might actually die, he now wishes he were home again. Putting the vehicle in reverse, he backs away from the rock wall. Having forgotten to turn the generator off, a cloud of storms has built up and is now pulsing lightning all around. Just as he is about to turn the generator off, multiple lightning bolts strike the vehicle. Heading off to who knows where, Max is taken back to Earth. Appearing at the same spot that he left, he is now heading in the direction of his home. “Oh man. That was awesome”, he says to no one in particular. He did notice his prototype machine still wrecked in the same spot as when he left. But he didn’t notice the alien. Sweating from being cramped up, Max heads home. Pulling into his driveway, it seems something is not quite right. Getting out of the vehicle, he opens the garage door and takes his machine inside. Not seeing his Mom’s car parked in the garage, he figures she probably went to work. Closing the door, he goes inside and that is when he realizes what is wrong. This is not the Earth he left behind. Turning on what used to be a normal television set, he catches a special report. Reporter: This is a special report. Now from Washington, here is the president. The President walks to the podium and begins his speech. My fellow Americans, today I was informed that an event has happened that will change our lives forever. If you’ve been watching the news for the past 2 weeks, you will have noticed that the U.S. Military has been tracking an unknown phenomenon in the Arizona dessert. What they found was a small vehicle which was made here in the United States. We’re not sure who made it or why, but an investigation has been under way for some time now. We know it is made from metals here on Earth, but it also has alien traces inside. We haven’t been able to determine the extent of what this means, only that…”, before he can go on, the President starts changing. He is turning into one of those things Max saw exit his vehicle just before he left. From off to the side, Max sees men aiming their handguns at the President and shooting. Just before the change takes total effect, he falls to the ground. Max cannot believe this. He is the one who brought them here. He feels it’s his own fault this is happening. At the same time he is shaking with fear, windows smash in and the doors are kicked down. Max is then swarmed by men in military gear with rifles pointed at him. “DOWN, DOWN ON THE FLOOR, NOW” the man in the lead yells at him. “Okay. I didn’t do anything’”, Max replies as he gets down on the floor. Not saying anything else, the military men bind his hands behind his back and carry him out to a hummer. They put him in the back and strap him in as they get ready to leave. Looking out the window, Max sees the men taking his other machine and putting it into the back of a special transport vehicle. He hears one of the men up front say they have the machine and the person responsible. Just then they come under fire from some vehicle overhead. Blue laser fire is just missing the vehicle Max is in. The soldier in the driver’s seat starts the hummer up and peels out as he heads in the direction of the desert. The ship pursues the hummer firing deadly blasts of blue laser at them. Taking an indirect route, they arrive at what looks to be a mountain. As they approach, the side of the mountain opens and they enter the military facility. As the door closes, Max sees military aircraft firing on the ship that chased them. He also sees the craft explode in a fireball just before the door closes fully. Now he is not sure what is going to happen, just that he is in a lot of trouble. Once the alien arrived, a virus that will change us forever is airborne. Within 2 weeks the entire population of Earth will be changed into aliens and no invasion will then be necessary.
