Home Tips With Teresa

FlyLady's Crisis Cleaning
Aug 18, 2002

Are you having guests over in a few hours, but the house is a mess? Try Martha Cilley’s quick pick up method:

Get prepared to work by dressing all the way down to your shoes and fixing your hair and makeup. Put on some music and light a scented candle.

Set a timer for 15 minutes of work in the kitchen. Clean your sink and counters and load or empty the dishwasher until the timer goes off.

Set the timer for another 15 minutes and straighten up the living room. Take a garbage bag and use a laundry basket for items that belong elsewhere.

Do 15 more minutes of surface cleaning in the kitchen. Do NOT clean out cabinets. It will only distract you.

For every 45 minutes of cleaning, take a break for 15 minutes.

Spend 15 minutes cleaning the bathroom, beginning with the sink. DO NOT start a load of laundry.

Spend 15 more minutes cleaning the kitchen.

Spend another 15 minutes straightening the living room.

Continue to take 15-minute breaks for every 45 minutes of work.
