Nov 6, 2002 Well its that time of year again. Time to shine up those credit and debit cards. Lets not forget to take some cash in case the credit limit is frozen. "Now let's see should I go to Wallmart or Sears? Let's not forget Radio Shack I hear they have a 20% discount if you take out a Radio Shack card provided you spend at least $10,000. Do you think I should buy Aunt Gertrude an electric guitar or a grand piano? You now how she loves to sing. Herman your not even listening to me." Ah I can hear the gingle of cash registers as the shoppers sing...Santie Claus, oh Santie Claus what a wonderful old fart was he. Children are running to and fro with mothers screaming...."junior put that back or I'm going to tan your hide when we get home if you don't put down that chain saw. Just wait till I tell your father how you are carrying on." Yes its starting to sound a lot like Christmas. For many families this is what the majority of Americans have to look forward to. Stop for a minute. Is this what Christmas is all about? After all who knows what Christmas is all about better than Old Saint Nick after all he invented it didn't he? Perhap we would be wise to take a moment and read the scripture "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord." What does Christmas mean to you my friend? ------------ Stephen Winter resides in Halton Hills, Ontario in Canada. He specializes in nonfiction writing.
