Miss World Beauty Peagent
Dec 18, 2002

First I would like to congratulate Miss Turkey for winning Miss World title, hope she would make every possible effort to help the deserving people, and participate in all the charitable works associated with this peagent, sadly this year the peagent created lot of controversy and everybody is sad including all the paticipating beauties at the tragic loss of life in Nigeria.

However what agitates my mind most is how anyone or small group of people can define beauty, as beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder one thing may appear very beautiful to one person and vice versa to the other. To me Miss India might be the prettiest, Matt might like Miss Russia, and you might like Miss U.S.A and we all want our choices to be declared Miss World.

It seems a little unjust to me to declare one person, "prettiest of them all", without giving fair chance to all the beauties living in this world, you might be confused what I mean by not giving fair chance, what I mean is, there might be some really beautiful lass living in some desert or some meadow, or on a highland and might have never heard of this opportunity. O.K, fine you don't agree, cause you think it's not possible with all the hovering satellites and magical computers all around us, perhaps that lovely lass was on board but what if her train had broken down as she might be from Pakistan, where such misfortunes are daily occurrences. There might be really beautiful people out but perhaps they are not lucky enough to be born in any country where such contests are held.

As far as I know no one can define beauty, what beauty actually is, if one asks different people to define beauty I am sure no two people will agree on the same parameters, everyone would give his or her own definition depending on their individual tastes, likes and dislikes. Besides physical beauty is short lived in the words of the Bacon, beauty is as asummer fruit, which are easy to corrupt and cannot last long.

What is beauty? Not the show
Of shapely limbs and features. No;
These are but flowers
That have their dated hours
To breathe their momentary sweets and go
'Tis the stainless soul within
That outshines the fairest skin
Sir A. Hunt

Beautiful people are those who have these stainless souls, the fairest of all is the mind adorned with virtues and unfortunately few behold it, of course we cannot live with a beautiul devil, though I agree that to a certain degree we are all impressed by physical beauty yet if it is not accompanied by virtues, intelligence and good deeds we cannot put up with it for long. Nobody will be made chief executive or be promoted out of turn because of shapely limbs and features, though you might cite a few examples of out of turn promotions, yet believe me the reason for any such actions is hardly ever personal beauty only.

From all this I do not mean that we should not we should not take care of ourselves or we should not make efforts to look beautiful or I feel certain repulsion from beautiful people, not at all. what I want to say is that it should not be made so important that it has the potential to take the lives of people, innocent human souls who may be far beautiful from inside then what is perceptible to human eye.

Beauty is truth, truth is beauty, that is all.
Ye know on earth, and all ye need to Know Keats.
