War is WHERE?
Feb 10, 2004

The UN weapon inspectors were back in Iraq searching for WMD in 2002 when Bush and Cheney said they weren’t doing a good job. Learn More

Blix spent three years searching for Iraqi chemical, biological and ballistic missiles as head of the U.N. Monitoring, Verification and Inspection Commission. More information here:< a href="http://www.casi.org.uk/discuss/2003/msg04339.html"> Learn more.

The World Community said give the Inspectors a chance to do their job. They hadn’t found any so Bush said that the Inspectors were failing (link) and said they should get out. We disregarded the UN’s opinion and for the first time in its history the US became an aggressor nation. (Sun Times- Jan 26th, 2003) We went to war and now we have found out that there weren’t any weapons of mass destruction for the UN inspectors to find. So why the rush to war?

Possible reasons:

Oil sanctions prevent oil sales in Iraq April 24, 2003;

More Revenge; Desert Storm 1990 -1991; MORE

Economy Bush and the budget deficits

Bush repeatedly says that his tax breaks to the small business owners But even Republicans opposed such cuts. (The Illinois Republican fears other provisions of the bill would accelerate the loss of American jobs to foreign countries. The bill cuts taxes on offshore earnings in order to make U.S.-based multinational corporations more competitive with their foreign counterparts.) will help resuscitate the economy.

In my opinion, it will not solve the economic problems. Most businesses and services are driven by demand. Outsourcing US jobs

And demand is driven by consumer consumption. The small business may outsource the work to a foreign company that provides services. A business owner will not hire new employees if he is not making sales.

With a windfall such as a tax cut the small business owner may take a vacation or buy a new car. Sure this will stimulate those businesses but will not affect the core of consumers who are worse off than ever before. With more than 3.3 million of US jobs will be farmed out by 2015 to India, Asia and Mexico.

People of the middle class in the US are being forced into poverty. There will be no long-term gain from these benefits. Perhaps the tax cuts should be distributed among the poor and middle class rather than the so-called small businesses. Certainly Wal-Mart doesn’t qualify as a small business nor does Halburton.

Possible reasons for tax cut:

More business are Republican- owned.

Pre-election promises

Hope that the Wars on Terror and Iraq will stimulate the economy.

Let us never forget that this Iraq War is about money and power. Learn more.
