The Teddy Bear was born. 1903-Crayons are invented by Edward Binney and Harold Smith. Yes, THOSE crayons. There's only one brand as far as I'm concerned(Crayola!). 1904-Teabags were invented by Thomas Suillivan. 1907-Color photography is invented by Auguste and Louis Lumiere. 1908-Cellophane is invented by Jacques E. Brandenberger. 1910-The first talking motion picture is demonstrated by Thomas Edison. The start of many wonderful, classic movies(and classic duds). 1911-Charles Franklin Kettering invents the first automobile electrical ignition system. 1912-Motorized movie cameras were invented. 1913-Arthur Wynne invented the crossword puzzle. One of my favorite hobbies. Mary Phelps Jacob invents the bra. No relation...as far as I know. The modern zipper's invented by Gideon Sundback. 1916-Radio tuners invented that received different stations. This will become very important in the decades to come,particularly the 1930s, 1940s, late 1950s, and the 60s decade. 1917-Sundback patented the modern zipper(NOT the first zipper;keep reading.), a vastly important part of clothing. Clarence Birdseye invents frozen food. 1924-Notebooks with spiral bindings are invented. 1925-The mechanical television, a precursor to the modern television, is invented by John Logie Baird. 1927-The first quartz crystal watch is invented by J.W.A.Morrison. Philo Taylor Farnsworth invents a complete electronic TV system. 1928-Scottish biologist Alexander Fleming discovers penicillin. Yes, this is important;health reasons. Bubble gum is invented by Walter E. Diemer. 1929-Scotch tape is patented by 3M enigineer, Richard G.Drew. The frozen food process is patented by Clarence Birdseye.(Or 1930;sources vary.) 1930-Twinkies were first created by Chicago bakery manager Jimmy Dewar. The original Twinkies were shortcakes with a banana cream filling. The vanilla cream filling was used because of a banana shortage during World War II. One of the finest junk foods around. 1933-Frequency modulation(that's FM radio, baby!) invented by Edwin Howard Armstrong. Stereo records were invented. A prototype drive-in movie theater is built by Richard M. Hollingshead in his driveway. 1934-The first tape recorder for broadcasting (first magnetic recording)is invented by Joseph Begun. 1937-Charles F.Carlson invents the photocopier. 1938-Roy J.Plunkett invents tetrafluoroethylene polymers, better known as Teflon. 1940-Modern color TV is invented by Peter Goldmark. 1946-Percy Spencer invented the microwave oven. 1947-Bardeen, Brattain, and Shockley invent the transistor. Earl Silas Tupper patented his Tupperware. 1948-Velco was invented by George de Mestral. The Wurlitzer jukebox was invented by Robert Hope- Jones. 1949-Cake mix was invented.(Yeah baby!) 1951-Super glue's invented. Power steering was invented by Francis W.Davis. 1953-RCA invented the first musical synthesizer. Texas Instruments invents the transistor radio. 1954-The first nonstick pan came out. Ray Kroc started McDonald's. 1955-The optic fiber's invented. 1956-The first computer hard disk is used. Bette Nesmith Graham invented "Mistake Out", later renamed as Liquid Paper. She was also the mother of Mike Nesmith, one of the Monkees! (Before computers,Liquid Paper was an essential part of using a typewriter.) 1957-Fortran(a computer language)is invented. 1958-The modem was invented. Gordon Gould invents the laser. 1959-The microchip was invented by Jack Kilby and Robert Noyce. 1962-The audio cassette was invented. 1964-An early computer language, BASIC, is invented by John Kemeny and Tom Kurtz. 1965-NutraSweet is invented. Hugely, vastly, important. 1989 0r 1990(sources vary)-The World Wid Web/Internet protocol(HTTP) and WWW language(HTML- Hyper Text Markup Language)created by Tim Berners- Lee. This guy and Bill Gates have literally changed the world. I know that MY particular world has been forever altered. Just think about the effect these two guys have had; boggles the mind,doesn't it? 1991-The digital answering machine is invented. 1993-The pentium processor's invented. 1995-The Java computer language is invented. The DVD(Digital Versatile Disc or Digital Video Disc)is invented. 1999-Tekno Bubbles are patented. Tekno Pets are on the way! 2000-T.V.Oommen invents an environmentally friendly transformer fluid from vegetable oils. The Fluidscene infusion pump is invented. 2001-Self-cleaning windows are invented by PPG Industries. 2002-The Braille Glove is invented by Ryan Patterson. Nano-tex-Nanotechology wearable fabrics are invented by Nano-tex LLC. A virtual keyboard is invented by Canesta and VKB. The ICOPOD is invented by Sanford Ponder. And here are a few notable August and September inventions, patents, trademarks, and copyrights: Aug.1, 1900-"The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz" by L Frank Baum was registered. Aug.2, 1904-Patent for a "glass shaping machine" is granted to MIchael Owen; it's the start of Owen-Corning Glassware! The mass production of glass bottles, jars, etc. owes its start to this invention. Aug.4, 1970-The "Poppin Fresh" trademark was registered by Pillsbury. Aug.6, 1935-A patent for the cathode ray tube was obtained by William Coolridge. The CRT was a critical component of TV and other electronic appliances. Aug.28, 1951-The dental product line, Oral B, was trademark registered. Aug.29, 1893-Whitcomb Judson received a patent for the zipper(the first prototype). Aug.30, 1968-"Hey Jude" by Lennon and McCartney was registered. Sept.1, 1486-The first known copyright was granted in Venice. Sept.8, 1994-Microsoft gave its operating system the name "Windows 95."
