The Inquisition of Condoleezza Rice
Apr 10, 2004

Condoleezza Rice testified before the 9-11 commission on Thursday, April 8th, 2004.

The inquisitors….er, questioners thought they had an easy mark to push around who they figured they could intimidate into saying she lied or misspoke in previous statements to the commission in private testimonies.

Dr. Rice entered the chambers and sat and presented a well thought out concise statement, then invited questions from the panel.

As this was supposed to be a non partisan panel in search of the facts surrounding the terror attacks of September 11, 2001; I expected questions from panel members to be on point and seeking what really happened.

Boy, was I ever wrong!!

Thursday's session was one of the most biased, partisan hearings I have ever viewed. The Republicans actually seemed to try gathering facts and information. The Democrats, on the other hand seemed like they were in a boxing ring, trying to spar with Tyson on a bad day.

Instead of quoting questions from books written by self interest writers, whose only goal appears to be high sales and a spot on the New York Times Best Seller list, these present and former politicians should have been asking what the hell happened on the day three planes crashed into buildings and one into a field in rural Pennsylvania.

One question I wanted to hear asked was: What effect did former Senator and Congressman (D-NJ) Robert Torricelli's rule of requiring prior approval from chair warmers in Washington, DC, before field agents could retain, hire and pay informants for vital information that could have contained details of threats, terrorist activities and whatever plans and plots may be in progress?

What caused this insane course of action was that Torricelli learned that a Nicaraguan military officer who was possibly linked to the murder of an American was on the CIA's payroll as an informant in the 1990s.(He didn't want to deal with anyone that may have had human rights convictions or possible pending charges) This was not a rarity; the CIA and other intelligence agencies used thugs to gather information for years to provide and ensure protection for this nation. During the Cold War the CIA used people you wouldn't want at the dinner table to gather information and intelligence on communists and other radical groups.

When you want information on lowlifes, you don't go to the Convent or Rectory to get information about them, you go to the bars and other places other lowlifes hang out to gather intelligence. Thugs tend to tell other thugs of their plans and past deeds. Not the local Boy or Girl Scout leaders, Ministers, or other respectable persons.

Instead of inquiring as to why security lapses were allowed to exist and continue, some panel members showed more interest in a book written by a fired, former "Terrorist Expert", that he has been hawking on the talk show rounds of late. If Richard Clarke was such a respected and revered expert, why was the USS Cole allowed to be attacked, among other America targets?

Why was an aspirin factory and empty terrorist camps bombed, instead of known sites that actually contained terrorist operations?

The title of this inane interrogation should have been: "The Blame Bush, and absolve Clinton Workshop"

But Dr. Rice resisted attempts to intimidate her and insisted on answering all questions put forth to her, fully and completely. After all, she was under oath and legally obligated to answer all questions to the best of her ability.

I know this concept seems odd and alien to most liberals, especially if the questions were about sex in the Oval Office, but to me an oath is an oath, and has to be honored.

The woman refused to be cowered by the lawyers and politicians on this "Non Partisan" Panel. I would like to know if members of the former administration were treated like this woman was.

I smell a rat in this so called investigation, and doubt we will ever hear the truth, if this line of questioning continues.
