Feb 14, 2004 John Kerry has a military record he can rightfully be proud of. Why he would go on to destroy something worthy of historical remark is his own conundrum. For Mr. Kerry to take up with a cause backed by “Hanoi” Jane Fonda; repudiate medals he rightfully earned; then support “Vietnam Veterans Against the War” surely does not speak well for any voter wanting him to be Commander In Chief of all American forces. To quote former Marine Lieutenant Colonel Oliver North, another multiple earner of the “Purple Heart” for wounds received in Vietnam, “The Vietnam Veterans Against the War encouraged people to desert, encouraged people to mutiny – some used what they wrote to justify fragging officers.” Then there is another famous quote from the memoir of General Vo Nguyen Giap. General Giap was in charge of the military campaign that eventually drove U.S. forces out of South Vietnam. The General credited Kerry’s organization, among others, for aiding and abetting Hanoi’s cause. He admitted in his memoir that if not for groups like Kerry’s, “Hanoi would have surrendered,” and “we would have lost.” We knew Jane Fonda’s record of active support for North Vietnam. We know John Kerry’s record of reporting (second and third hand) atrocities allegedly committed by military forces in Vietnam. It is no wonder many veterans returned to the U.S. and were spit on and called “baby killers.” We now have Mr. Kerry’s current record of non-support for the Battle for Iraq. His call for more U.N. support and blessing only mirrors his desire, stated back in the 1970s, that U.S. troops only be deployed worldwide by U.N. mandate. To this day Kerry would staunchly permit the U.N. to dictate the actions of the U.S. military. This is called “abdication” of any role as Commander In Chief of American forces. Kerry has a major 19-year Senate record of non- support for the U.S. military. He has voted against many of the programs and weapons systems that actually later became critical to American success in Granada, Panama and the Middle East. Fortunately, more Senators and Congress-people saw fit to support military needs. Kerry may have an otherwise adequate record as a Senator. The record is, of course, liberal, but for a liberal Senator, his record is probably actually stellar. The recent spate of Primaries should not really encourage Mr. Kerry though. I have been watching the percentages. First, the percentage of Democrats actually participating has yet to reach 25% in any single primary. Now, Mr. Kerry has been winning the higher percentage of the vote in each primary, but he is only achieving between 38% and 53% of the vote in any given event. In some of these primary votes, more Democrats actually voted for someone other than Mr. Kerry. For example, Mr. Kerry only took 38% of the New Hampshire vote, which he won. More Democrats in that state voted against Kerry. Is that a bellwether? Should Mr. Kerry desire to make military service an issue, I would point to the President’s current record as Commander In Chief of all armed forces. That record far outstrips Kerry’s current record of not knowing whether or not to support the war against terror. Mr. Kerry’s war record reads much the same as anyone’s who served in Vietnam. He was a soldier doing his job. President Bush has an honorable discharge. You do not get one of those for neglecting service. You get one of those for completing a service obligation. George Bush may not have a chest full of ribbons, but Terry McAuliffe and Kerry, and any one else leftward who makes this an issue are being completely hypocritical because of their support of Willie Jeff Clinton, who not only ran away from his service obligation, but protested against his own country while standing in a Communist nation, purposely dodging the draft. Kerry, having honorably served, should be made to explain his incredible double standard on that. McAuliffe is just an insufferable butt-wipe and does not disserve any consideration for any remark he might utter. I did not hear a peep from George Bush Senior, who served very honorably during WWII, about his opponent’s draft dodging and anti-militarism. It was never an item of debate (but should have been). People were allowed to judge that aspect of Clinton’s cowardice on their own. Again, the double standards are apparent; protective of liberal cowards; destructive against conservative protectors of American freedom. Need I remind anyone that Clinton did not get 51% of the popular vote in either of his elections? The American people knew then he would not be good for America. History has borne that out. Another demic-rat hero of the liberal faith was heard from the other night on “Hannity and Combes”. I only remember his last name was “Weiner”. How appropriate was that? Mr. Weiner was “weining” about the 7th panel of investigators (that were yet to be named) that will conduct the 7th ongoing investigation concerning Iraq’s WMDs and September 11th. Mr. Weiner whined that Bush should not be allowed to select the members of this panel because it would not be bi-partisan (sans: liberal) enough to render a fair and balanced (sans: liberal) interpretation of the intelligence failures. In other words, we need to be able to blame President Bush, not faulty intelligence. A major sticking point is that this 7th investigative panel will be given all of Clinton’s intelligence data. Hannity slam-dunked Mr. Weiner with some classic Clinton WMD sound bites, which Mr. Weiner incorrectly attributed to President Bush’s State of the Union address. Apparently Mr. Weiner did not attend that, or he was sleeping next to the ever-drowsy Charles Rangel. Look. It doesn’t matter one wit what George Bush did in the Texas National Guard. What matters is what he has accomplished and is now accomplishing as Commander In Chief of all U.S. Forces. He has put the Taliban and al Qaeda on the run. He has ousted Saddam’s murderous regime. He has culled Quaddafi and made Iran think twice. He is forcing N. Korea to make a choice rather than a demand. He has assembled a devout team of people who believe America should defend herself from her enemies, not coddle them and hope for peace. Go home Mr. Kerry. Go home Mr. McAuliffe. You can go home too Mr. Weiner. ------------ About the Author: Independent, Conservative, Christian.
