Feb 4, 2004 “Former Senator Carol Mosely Braun…will drop out… will endorse Dean.” Poor Carol; not only did her horse die, but she also tied her endorsement to the tail of another horse that seems to be going belly-up. Now, at the time of this writing, the New Hampshire Primary still hasn’t happened, but none of the press looks good for Mr. Dean. Dean seems to have poisoned his own horse with the rhetoric of hate. I understand Carol was to receive a stipend as a “consultant” for the Dean campaign. If Dean hangs in long enough Carol may even make back the amount she spent on her anemic campaign. If NOW threw its endorsement to Ms. Braun, can NOW reclaim it and throw it to Mr. Dean? All this can be quite confusing. Poor Carol just could not get her message out. There will be no female president this year (maybe). Why “maybe”? I suppose things could get bad enough for the Democrats that no one will survive the Primaries with a solid mandate. This would leave the convention wide open for a “Hillary is our savior” draft candidacy. You just know that horse is tugging at that bit. I want to be honest here. I do not believe we can change our leadership in Washington right now without facing some very serious consequences. There is nothing but opposition to everything the current administration is doing and is proposing both internationally and domestically. From all that I hear, there would become a very radical change of direction in government should the democrats win in 2004. First, I see China, Russia, Germany, France and Koffi Anan’s U.N. back in positions of authority over American interests and military operations. Secondly, I see my taxes raised, through the complete elimination of my promised tax cuts, (make no mistake here, the democrats voted for these cuts too. To end them is to revoke a promise.) And then raised again to pay for “universal” health care that puts money into the pockets of trail lawyers and stifles research and development of new drugs and procedures because of bureaucratically enforced price controls. (I know that’s a long sentence, but somebody had to write it.) Anyway, those two demic-rat promises alone will be enough for me to ask for asylum in…possibly…an asylum. The world has come to know already what it faces when it faces a nation led by George W. Bush. Our enemies would be very tempted to test any change of government right away. After years of demic- rat complacency in foreign affairs, it has shocked the world to re-discover American resolve. Would a change of government reduce such resolve? I believe radical Islam would test that. I also believe that any administration that leans liberal would fail that test. Recent history has proven the ineffectiveness and waste of liberal policies and practices. Let’s keep the current administration and see if it can breed, or be cloned for about twenty more years. I believe by that time we will have all the technology we need to dig terrorists out of caves and crowds of airline passengers. Too many lives are at stake to turn our trust over to anyone calling labeled “anti-war”. We are in a fight, and our “black-eye” is only slowly healing. We don’t need no “stinking” bloody nose. Good-bye Ms. Braun. See you at the polls. ------------ About the Author: Independent, Conservative, Christian.
