Jan 31, 2004 When I write for Useless-Knowledge.com I normally go into my “word” program and type out the article. I do this so I can easily use the spelling and grammar check features before “cutting” and “pasting” to UK’s submission form. The spelling and grammar feature will always show me sentence “fragments”. I write the way I speak, so I will often have fragmented sentences that I will edit, (or not), prior to pasting. All “Media” it seems has become enamored with two sentence fragments they have found to be integral parts of every story ever written concerning our military and reconstruction efforts in Iraq. The first sentence fragment is: “…since May 1, when President Bush declared that major combat operations in Iraq had ended…” We have seen this fragment inserted into every news story, opinion column and magazine article media has churned out since May 1, when President Bush declared etc, and so on, and blah, blah, blah ad nauseum. I think I get it. Look media! What part of “major combat operations” do you not understand? “Major” operations are multiple divisions moving against known enemy centers of resistance known as “strongholds”, to destroy with devastating power through the use of overwhelming air and ground forces. The military actions and operations now being conducted are, by comparison, “minor”. This means smaller, platoon sized elements are being deployed to root out small cells of insurgents and terrorists who insist on killing innocent Iraqis to score points toward martyrdom. Interestingly, media reporting has the effect of bolstering the opposition at the expense of allied forces. Reporting every American casualty as a defeat while underreporting successful military operations and terrorist death tolls is certainly one way to embolden our enemies. I expect nothing more from biased media pukes that cannot stand to see our armed forces successful. I call that a form of anti-Americanism. Which brings me to the second sentence fragment: “[insert Halliburton] Vice President Dick Cheney’s former company [insert Halliburton]” If we haven’t read this one enough, or heard it enough, we need not worry, right? Every time Halliburton, Vice President Cheney’s former blah, blah, blah, etc ad nauseum times two, bids on any contract anywhere, we will be sure to read about the Pentagon investigation that was all allegation and no evidence. We will also be sure to read how the Vice President did not (again, after much investigation into the allegations) profit from any contract award. I believe if Vice President Dick Cheney’s former company, Halliburton, sold out tomorrow and changed its name, it would still be Vice President Dick Cheney’s former company, Toys-R- Us, formerly, Halliburton. Look media! Your pants are down around your ankles and your bi”ass” is showing to the whole world. I get it already! ------------ About the Author: Independent, Conservative, Christian.
