ARGHnold Schwarzenegger?
Oct 14, 2003

The night Mr. Schwarzenegger (Mr. AS), announced on the "Tonight Show" that he would be a republican candidate for election as governor of the state of California, my first thought was: "Yeah! Right ON!". That reaction was based in a deep belief that Arnold was fully capable of beating any opposing demic-rat. He seemed to be very unpretentious about his personal celebrity and very concerned about the abysmal condition of the state budget.

Now, I really didn't care about any of that. I live in New Jersey, which is another state in serious need of recalling its tax and spend, deficit creating, demic-rat governor. It would be up to the people of California to figure out which of the myriad of individuals running for office would become the guinea-pig for the attempted fix. Of all the candidates I later became aware of Mr. AS, I believed, was certainly the front runner.

The stories started. The "Oui" debacle. The bimbo eruptions al.la. Willie Jeff. The Hitler lover episode. As a consumer of FOX News I was innundated with the "fair and balanced" look at Mr. AS' campaign. I was getting no enlightenment at all from the print or national media. They made it very plain they wanted no part of anyone "republican" in such a seat of world power as the governorship of California. Then too, being largely a consumer of Rush Limbaugh's web and radio sites, I began finding out things about Mr. AS I really did not want to know. I say that because, upon finding out, I became conflicted over my very initial reactions and feelings.

With the election concluded and Mr. AS now "governor elect", I want to commend the people of California for finally showing some guts in telling demic-rats what they really think about taxes and deficits. Mr. AS was touted as a fiscal conservative, so I will hope this translates into a balanced budget and major tax relief for the state's residents.

I am disturbed though. Mr. AS may ONLY be conservative in fiscal matters. I listened to a FOX News interview with the head of a group of pro-choice republican women. The person interviewed, (sorry, the name escapes me) stated that her group supported Mr. AS no matter how many bimbos came out of the woodwork because Mr. AS supported a woman's right to abortion. I heard many times about Mr. AS' support for much of the homosexual agenda, including adoption for the creation of alternative families. In these two matters alone Mr. AS proves himself no more right of center than many of the most liberal abortion lovers and gay activists. The one voice holding to the more important tenants of conservativism, Mr. McClintock, only achieved 13 percent of the vote.

I am not holding out much hope that California will undergo any major moral reorganization. I fear the liberal wing of the demic-rat party will be able to turn this situation to their advantage. Even if California manages to fix its fiscal woes, unless there can be a corresponding attempt to correct the state's moral and ethical attitude toward sin and murder, corruption will still be the state's major export to the rest of the world.

The near future will see phony projections of moral outrage from the left against an immoral "republican" government in California, supposedly representing the character of the right. Such accusations will play "hey-day" well in leftist print media. The promise of President Bush, to help California, will only give ammunition to leftist critics when Mr. AS begins pressing his more liberal agenda in the name of republicanism. I hope I am wrong about that.
