Liberal "Lynch" (S)Pin
Nov 20, 2003

Yep! That's right. The reason I did not buy Hillary's book is because she is a lying, evil demic-rat that cannot be trusted. So, that is the same reason I will not buy Franken's book of Alan Combs' book. Madaline Albright has found her audience in France, which figures, ooh-la-la! And Willie Jeff is back to schmoozing the Chinese while Ted Kennedy is about to go apoplectic. That just leaves Diane Sawyer.

I'm sorry. With all the other anti-Americanism being displayed by the aforementioned, I was deliberate in my desire to avoid the Sawyer interview with the former Pvt. Lynch. As with any interview by "perky" Catie Curic, I saw it coming. Lynch was played like a liberal fiddle for some bucks and some extra "spotlight" time. She apparently said just what the liberals wanted to hear. Ah! Sometimes there is shame attached to fame. So again, I am sorry I could not make myself watch something from ABC, NBC, CBS or CNN. They are all, equally, too liberal for me to waste my time with.

I am happy that Ms. Lynch was not killed in Iraq. I am happy there was at least one Iraqi with enough motivation to be humane amid all the madness and that someone on the ground was capable of a swift decision to get Lynch out of a certain death situation.

I am upset that the media got so many things wrong in the process of relaying these events to us. Our colleague, Ms. Nguyen is right. There are no heroes in this sad event in the history of this nation's Army. When a unit gets lost, it points to a severe lack of training in the basic common tasks of map and compass reading. In this age of Global Positioning Systems, someone probably put the batteries in backwards to the hand-held GPS. When attacked, if more than one soldier had been able to crank up an M-16 to return fire, the enemy, proven cowards, would have withdrawn.

The one soldier who did manage some defense is credited with nine killed enemy soldiers. Had all the defensive weaponry available actually worked, this defeat could easily have become a victory. Whoever was the senior among this group failed in his responsibility to protect his soldiers by ensuring they were ready for possible combat. It is all basic common soldier skills like weapon maintenance, hasty defense and leadership under pressure. All of that failed in this episode.

The event does not warrant a round of medals and fame. It does warrant an investigation and an After Action Review (AAR) to ensure it never happens again. It might be true this group of mechanics and supply people were not Special Forces, but they were trained soldiers with weapons that were supposed to fire when the triggers were pulled. I am speaking from my own 30 years of military experience in combat arms and logistical support units.

Do I want to buy the "Time" magazine that features Ms. Lynch? No. I gave up on "Time" magazine a long while ago. Do I want a copy of Ms. Lynch's book? No. I agree with Ms. Nguyen's situational assessment. I do not need liberal media's bend on any story that comes out of Iraq. "Bias" does not begin to describe the liberal lean in every story spoken by the Ratherites, the Brokawians and the Jenningians. If I stay with FoxNews, Limbaugh, Drudge and Townhall, I will remain surefooted through the minefield of leftist anti-Americanism.
