Sept. 24, 2004 I will remember September 21st, 2004 as a day I was very proud of my President. President George W. Bush gave a speech before the UN General Assembly that was a speech only a leader could give. There were no platitudes. There was respect without condescension. There were facts without bravado. There was truth spoken in the strength of being on the right side. There was challenge with the hope that the people being spoken to would act in accord with the Charter of this body of diplomats to actually affect a change for good in the world. President Bush was concise, forceful and perhaps too optimistic for a UN audience consisting mostly of repressive societies and outright dictatorships. He reminded the UN diplomats why they were sitting in that chamber in the first place. The dictators in the audience had every reason to squirm. The Ministers of Iraq and Afghanistan had every reason to be proud. President Bush was preceded by UN Secretary General Kofi Annan. I wasn’t able to hear Mr. Annan’s speech, but I did extract the text of his comments and read the text version. Mr. Annan is big on the “rule of law” as established by the UN on his watch. He seeks a legacy; as do all men placed in such positions of power and standing in the world. But Mr. Annan has taken many major hits recently, as the UN has proven its weakness as a supportive and protective body too many times. Instead of the vaunted UN holding its ground in Iraq to truly help that country, the UN was the first body to cut and run away upon the first sign of trouble against the coalition. With major failures in Rwanda, Kosovo, Zimbabwe, Iraq and now, Darfur, Sudan, Mr. Annan’s legacy has fallen to his ability to get America and Israel before the International Court (ICC) to face charges of war crimes and human rights violations against their terrorist enemies; the Palestinians and the Islamofacist Muslims. Mr. Annan slings the term “rule of law” as a gunslinger packing a .45 Colt; only Mr. Annan’s “gun” is of his own direction and understanding. He deals politely with the world’s Islamic and Communist dictatorships while he condemns the actions of the free societies desiring to protect their own peoples and cultures. To hear Mr. Annan; the entire world should come under the “rule of law” of the United Nations. Now, that would be fine for Israel and America to agree to subject to the rules of International and world bodies of law, if it wasn’t already proven that these bodies are severely and increasingly anti-Semitic and anti-American. Those who call for the subjection of American citizenry to Mr. Annan’s “rule of law” based in “socialistic internationalism” (my phrase) are really calling for an end to personal freedoms guaranteed under the American “rule of law”, The Constitution. Mr. Annan’s “rule of law”, at least in his mind, is the greater and more meaningful law. If America ever signs onto that, they will, in effect, agree to be subject to the rules of the UN. The bulk of the UN, being staunchly anti- American and anti-personal-freedom; naturally, Israel and America would be the most condemned states under the purview of the “rule of UN law”. An American President could actually be imprisoned by a world body simply for exercising his American Constitutional right to defend America, if anyone in the world body brought the right charges, executable under any treaty signed by the United States. Do you see any world leader under any type of trial for any “bogus” human rights violations presently? Well, for sure, you would see it if America and Israel sign on to legitimize the ICC. The ICC can’t wait to get its grubby, anti- Semitic mitts on President Bush for the Abu Gahrib debacle; just as it can’t wait to slam Ariel Sharon into the slammer for erecting a protective wall around his society. To quote Kofi Annan: “At the same time we have seen Iraqi prisoners disgracefully abused.” He actually equated the events at Abu Gahrib with: “In Iraq we see civilians massacred in cold blood, while relief workers, journalists and other non- combatants are taken hostage and put to death in a most barbarous fashion.” This makes me sad. To equate beheadings by terrorists to sexual escapades by idiot and bored American soldiers; who are even now standing trial and receiving prison sentences while the scum who cut off innocent heads are still running around free, leads me to believe Mr. Annan needs an enema. Mr. Annan’s “rule of law” isn’t worth the paper it is printed on if he and the rest of the UN don’t have the guts to suspend Sudan’s UN membership; slap that country with the hardest sanctions available; then get enough troops on the ground to actually protect those Black African Muslims from the barbaric actions of those brown Arab Muslims. He can tell China to go somewhere else for oil until this mess is cleaned up. NEXT: Part II ------------ About the Author: Michael John McCrae is an Independent, Conservative, Christian who has been personally insulted as a voter because John Kerry thinks the "Heart and Soul of America" lays in the "X-rated sexual innuendo" of Whoopi Goldberg. Well, Michael McCrae thinks America is better than that. Michael McCrae believes there is at least some morality left. So Michael McCrae is going to leave this here (until after the election) as a reminder to all of what John Kerry and John Edwards believe the Real America to be. They believe America's "heart and soul" resides in the "X-rated sexual innuendo" of Whoopi Goldberg. You can draw your own conclusions.
