Matthew Chapter 7:24-29 [The Wise/The Foolish]

By Michael John McCrae
Aug 27, 2004

“Therefore everyone which hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on a rock. The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it didn’t fall, because it had its foundation on a rock. But everyone who hears these words of mine and does not put them into practice is like a foolish man who built his house on sand, the rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house and it fell with a great crash.”

“When Jesus had finished saying these things, the crowds were amazed at his teaching, because he taught as one who had authority, and not as the teachers of the Law.” (MT.7:24-29)

Many of today’s teachers of the Laws of God have no authority. Oh. They’re smart and very learned in the ways of their specific religious practices; but too many of them have no authority because they do not know Jesus nor do they have the Holy Spirit.

Now, if we pay close attention as Christians; we know this to be true because Jesus tells us we will know the false prophet by his or her fruit. Any fruit that accepts any portion of sin will soon rot and become inedible.

We have to examine ourselves as Christians and ask ourselves if we have built on sand or on rock. Jesus tells the Christian that the wise man will watch for the false prophet. Jesus tells the Christian that only the branches or trees bearing good fruit will survive his judgment.

There; I have re-read Matthew Chapter 7 and I now know that I can correctly judge sin. I don’t judge sinners because that is the purview of God. If I judge sinners, I just make my own vision blurry.

I know to beware false prophets that appear like wonderful people with great glowing messages of love without the corresponding messages of wrath against sin. These are the prophets that will hand me a stone and it will slow my walk up that narrow road to that small gate; and then that stone will not allow me to pass.

So now the challenge is for those who have questioned my personal faith in Christ which says it is not correct to compromise with any part of sin.

Please, read Romans Chapter One.

About the Author: Michael John McCrae is an Independent, Conservative, Christian who has been personally insulted as a voter because John Kerry thinks the "Heart and Soul of America" lays in the "X-rated sexual innuendo" of Whoopi Goldberg. Well, Michael McCrae thinks America is better than that. Michael McCrae believes there is at least some morality left. So Michael McCrae is going to leave this here (until after the election) as a reminder to all of what John Kerry and John Edwards believe the Real America to be. They believe America's "heart and soul" resides in the "X-rated sexual innuendo" of Whoopi Goldberg. You can draw your own conclusions. Email: macswordV@hotmail.com
