Here’s The UN John Kerry Extols The Virtue Of

By Michael John McCrae
July 27, 2004

The Cover of “Parade” magazine, Sunday, 22 February, 2004 read “Who Would You Say Is the World’s Worst Dictator?” by John Wallechinsky. The magazine selected their top ten dictators. The article appeared shortly after the ousting of Liberia’s Charles Taylor and the capture of Saddam Hussein. Both of those dictators had been on the 2003 list for the title of “Worst Dictator”.

I kept this article because I was curious. How many of these “dictators” were represented in the United Nations? John Kerry is always explaining how our coalition of nations isn’t complete enough without the full support of the United Nations, and how he would change all that by being more diplomatic and inclusive than our President, and how he would not push away the nations among those in that august body of diplomats. So I did some looking.

I was not surprised to find that North Korea was missing from UN enrollment. Their human right record is atrocious, and they were number one on the list for “Worst”.

The other nine top dictatorships all claim membership in the United Nations. Cuba joined the UN in 1945 and has been a member ever since. Why would the peace loving and freedom preaching UN keep Cuba as a member nation after Castro took over and turned the country into a communist dictatorship in 1959? In the past 45 years, how many boatlifts and exiles have fled Cuba for America and other countries to escape Castro’s oppression? Yet, the UN permits Cuba a place in its collective heart. (Must be the cigars.)

How about our dictatorial friend King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia? He’s been in power since 1955. It was 19 subjects of his kingdom that killed 3000 Americans on 9/11 and I haven’t heard too many apologies from his kingdom, nor have I witnessed any condolences out of any mouth of any member of that branch of the Saudi royal family. For almost 50 years his family has held power, suppressing his subjects and feigning friendship while harboring murderous terrorist scum. (Must be the oil.)

There is Belarus; a UN member since 1945; China, since 1945; Zimbabwe, since 1980; Equatorial Guinea, since 1968; and the good old Sudan and their Jungaweed, since 1956. The Sudan is warning….WARNING….the UN and all foreign nations not to get involved in the genocide currently being committed within this African garden spot. They are allowing one million Black Muslims to suffer and die at the hands of northern Arab Muslims, in spite of UN sanctions and resolutions. Still a valued member of the UN though. (Must be the aspirin.)

Two of the UN dictatorships were dictatorships BEFORE becoming members of the UN. Turkmenistan was two years into its dictatorship under Niyazov before they became a member in 1992. Zimbabwe’s Mugabe was accepted into the UN the same year he took power. So, I guess as time goes on it actually becomes easier to join the UN if you have a penchant for suppressing the masses. Heck, each succeeding Chinese president is more dictatorial than the previous, yet China commands a Veto vote in the UN. (Must be the Egg rolls.)

So, I was still curious.

What does it take to get kicked out of the UN? The UN Australia site tells me this: “The UN has 4 main aims: 1) keep world peace 2) develop friendship among nations 3) work together to help the world’s poor 4) to be a centre for helping all countries. UN Australia Says plainly: “No country has ever left the UN or been expelled from the UN.”

I also found this: “All member states have sovereign equality. All member states must obey the charter. The UN may not interfere in the domestic affairs of any country.”

I found a contradiction. U Thant was Secretary General of the UN from 1961 to 1971 and he was from Burma. Hummmmm! Burma is not on the current list of member nations and is under a dictatorship. If “no country has ever left or been expelled” did U Thant represent another country?

The “Preamble” to the UN Charter includes this: “We the peoples of the United Nations determined to reaffirm faith in fundamental human rights, in the dignity and worth of the human person, in the equal rights of men and women and of nations large and small and to establish conditions with which justice and respect for the obligations arising from treaties…can be maintained.”

Those are bold words for an organization that harbors and coddles dictatorships.

Whoops! Found it! U Thant was from Burma; now called Myanmar, which shows a membership date beginning 1948. Sorry about that; the “Parade” piece makes no mention of Myanmar; preferring to call the dictatorship of Mr. Shwe, Burma.

So what have we learned? The UN is an interesting organization whose charter says one thing while much of the membership ignores the charter and subjugates their populations.

Every member state has equality with the others. It is no wonder America has so often been compared to Nazi Germany.

Nobody gets kicked out. There has to be a real good reason why nobody is ever leaving the UN. Can you say; “Oil for Food?”

When a member nation does not obey the charter – nothing happens of any serious consequence. Sanctions may be put in place, but most sanctions only hurt the people the UN charter says need the protections of the UN. “The UN may not interfere”… with a nation’s domestic affairs of slaughter and torture and mass grave filling; so any dictatorship can thrive simply by becoming a member of the UN.

I’m beginning to think North Korea has the right idea. They’re the only ones smart enough to stay away from the UN.

It is apparent to me that the United States is almost alone in holding the charter of the UN to any type of worth. Surely the inaction of this body in regard to its own charter is, at the least, a questionable issue, and at most, quite criminal.

Not only does the UN not follow its charter by protecting the world’s poor and oppressed; it determines to harbor and protect dictatorships as equal partners in humanitarianism. What is that?

The current American administration is the only entity forcing relevancy on the UN. How can dictators be considered co-equals? Yet, this is what comes out of the mouths of liberals like John Kerry, Kennedy, the Clintons, Gore, Dean, Carter and the whole liberal host of appeasement purveyors. We need the UN. We need the legitimacy of that whole body of hypocritical, dictatorial, scum-sucking, maggot-infested anti-American nations. If we cannot gain the complete backing of communists and France then we must always subordinate ourselves to their interests to the detriment of America.

Gee.

I am of the personal opinion America should continue to form its legacy of “Firsts”. America should be the “First” nation to withdraw from the UN. Then, we should be the first nation to tell the UN to leave the United States. You are free to draw your own conclusions.

About the Author: Michael John McCrae is an Independent, Conservative, Christian who has been personally insulted as a voter because John Kerry thinks the "Heart and Soul of America" lays in the "X- rated sexual innuendo" of Whoopi Goldberg. Well, Michael McCrae thinks America is better than that. Michael McCrae believes there is at least some morality left. So Michael McCrae is going to leave this here (until after the election) as a reminder to all of what John Kerry and John Edwards believe the Real America to be. They believe America's "heart and soul" resides in the "X-rated sexual innuendo" of Whoopi Goldberg. You can draw your own conclusions. Email: michael.mccrae@us.army.mil
