Apr 2, 2004 The Prophesy of Isaiah, Chapter 45, verse 22: “Look unto me, and be ye saved, all ye ends of the earth: for I am God, and there is none else.” From the time Adam took his very first breath, God has tried to have a decent relationship with mankind. Men are tough creatures though. We lie and cheat and war against each other. Things like that upset God. You see, God is love, peace, sincerity and all the good things men are not. Like oil and water, there’s not a whole lot of mixing there. God does try though. He tries very hard to make sure at least a few of us will survive to share his eternity. He made specific covenants with men, and even when men broke their faith with God, since God is always true to the things he has promised, some men still have a chance at eternal redemption. There is only one God. He has spoken to men, written to men and kept mankind alive through some of the toughest trials imaginable. The one time when no man was left on the earth to salvage the continuation of truth and morality, God himself came to earth to recertify his love and establish a platform of redemption all future men could aspire to. God told Isaiah to write what he wrote because he is the only God and therefore, he is the only one men should look to for salvation. Now, I understand there may be some even in this forum of expression who struggle with such thoughts. But that need not be so. The scriptures record many of the meetings between men and God. Adam and Abraham spoke directly with God. Others like David and Solomon depended upon the prophets sent by God to deliver the messages they needed to rule their kingdoms. Moses was given the words of the first books of scripture and the very Law of God for the Nation of Israel. The words God gave Moses have survived to this present day. Philosophers might say we cannot know the mind of God, but that is the wrong attitude. When Moses asked God’s name, God replied, “I AM, that I AM.” The scriptures tell us that God is the beginning and the ending, the first and the last, the great I AM. The Apostle Paul once wrote to his friend and disciple Timothy: “All scripture is God breathed, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction and for instruction in righteousness.” (2Tim.3:16) It is true Paul was speaking about the very Old Testament scriptures spoken from by Jesus himself. Jesus said that all the Old Testament is a direct testimony of his own existence. The Psalmist wrote: “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.” (Ps.19:7) I am a simple man. For the longest time I was a simple unbeliever. Then came the time God brought me to my faith. I have found that people who determine the Bible a book of fable or myth have no real clue to what the Bible actually says. They do not see the connection between the Old testament Prophets, the Kings of Hebrew history, the Father of Promise, Abraham, Moses, Adam, David, the Apostles, Tyndale, Martin Luther, and finally, me. Now, don’t get me wrong. All those people in the preceding paragraph have one thing in common. That was their deep, abiding faith and trust in that what God had promised in writing, he would perform in fact. People who disbelieve the Bible have not done their research. They have failed to see the multiplied fulfilled prophecies. In some cases, prophesies were fulfilled hundreds of years after becoming part of a written record. These are the same people who claim there were no WMD’s in Iraq because we still haven’t found any. Five thousand chemically killed Kurds would disagree; just as countless Hebrew and Christian martyrs would disagree there is no God. God has done everything for men and mankind repays God with unbelief, insincerity and ignorance. Now, mankind is reaping a sad harvest of judgment from a holy and just God, who has no choice but to deal with sin and unbelief in an effort to salvage at least a portion of his creation.
