Oct 27, 2003 After the democratic failures in California recently, I thought, the democrats have sunk to a new low and could go no further. Then I see the reports of the remaining stooges running under the democratic ticket, and I say to myself, NOW they could go no further. THEN (then then then) I watch supposed news programs that are so blatantly biased that it borders on the ludicrous, and I say to myself NOW, now they can go no further. They have sunk to an all-time low, in their pathetic attempt to regain power by distorting practically every avenue of the media. Boy was I wrong. The constant need to rewrite history has plummeted the democrats to a low that I didn’t think possible even on the Cartoon Network, and that’s the recent story that appeared on The Drudge Report about the CBS TV movie about Ronald Reagan. The vitriol that those in that party have for that great man is unbelievable. Here is a man who brought the country back from a great recession brought about by Jimmy Carter, who defeated Communism without firing a single shot, who created an economic program that brought about so much prosperity that even after eight years with Bill Clinton still continued to allow economic growth in this country unseen since the fifties, and who brought the military back from the brink to have it be the greatest fighting force that the world has ever known. Have the democrats become so incensed with the idea of regaining power (plus their extreme hatred for George Bush) that they are willing to ignore and rewrite history? That they are willing to lie? Have Bill and Hillary Clinton so taken over the party that anything that could put him in a better light taken priority over common sense and common decency? If it weren’t so pathetic, it would be funny. What happened to the entertainment thin film of illusion of being unbiased? You’ll have to excuse me for CBS’s choice of having James Brolin portray Ronald Reagan. C’mon give me a break! What’s next? Are we going to have a CBS movie of the week about Rush Limbaugh starring James Carville? How about a CBS Christmas special starring Madonna as the Virgin Mary, Marilyn Manson as Joseph and Gary Coleman as the baby Jesus (whachoo talkin’ ‘bout apostles?). It is said that in victory, the victors write the history. And in almost every instance that is true. Except in this case, where the democrats continue to lose and lose and lose again, and still continue to try to rewrite the history of what occurred. They absolutely think so poorly of the nation at large, all of the voting blocks, to utterly disregard what the ‘people’ (the ones they’re supposed to be working for) want or think. I even gave myself a challenge. I tried to find ONE thing that a democratic politician has done for this country or this country’s future in the past decade. One. Thing. All I could find was a disgusting history of self- serving ideas and rhetoric that appeared not only to inhibit social reforms but actually PUSH BACK any progress that has been made in that arena. If there is any good out of all of this is that they are predictable. I know that the TODAY Show is going to be biased. I can figure out (even with my eyes closed) that CNN is going to distort the world events in order to make our sitting president look bad. When I turn on the TV I can be pretty confident that there will be hidden and not so hidden jabs about the president or the administration. But to come out like this (the Ronald Reagan movie) and to portray the past president in such a distorted light is shameful. What’s even sadder is there are people out there who will believe what is being said. They will have forgotten (or not even have cared) about all of the great things that have occurred under this great leader. I won’t coin this phrase as my own but I honestly do forget who said it, “The reason they call television a medium is because it is neither well done or rare.” ------------ About the author: Mike Russell is a Ninja/fighter pilot/ astronaut with x-ray vision who likes to make up stuff about the author when his wife isn’t looking.
