Jobs, Gays, And A Mission To Mars
Mar 7, 2004

It's been several weeks since I've last sent in a contribution, so I'd like to catch up.

First off, if the only was you could gauge a companys' performance was by the customer service you'd receive, then MCI would be out of business. Seven weeks to get my phone turned on in my new house and I finally (and thank you, by the way) had to go to another comapny (SBC Ameritech) who did a wonderful job.

Second, it's time to get real people. Kerry is the demacratic nominee, there is going to be months of nasty commercials and attack ads on both sides, but when isn't there? Lately its been all about the commercials about 9/11. A tragic and cowardly attack on our people. The only thing that I can see that is nearly on par is the way the dems have politicized it. This was a defining moment in our policies on terrorism. It was not and still is not a political event or tool used by the president. This was not a staged event. You might as well blame the president on the weather.

And I'm surprized at those of you that think that Kerry will be elected. Hillary won't let that happen, and as long as Terry McCaulliff is in charge of the DNC he won't let that happen. These power hungry megalomaniacs see themselves as the ruling party of America and won't let anything like good conduct, fairness, or morals get in their way.

Third, gay marriages. I have looked and looked into the Constitution and can't find a single line that specifies that gays have a "right" to get married. If they want to live with each other, give each other power of attorney, then fine. Let them. It's still a free country. But don't feed me this garbage about "rights"!

I love the space program. I have ever since I was a child, home with the measles, and watched the first moon landing. I would love to go into space.

Does that mean I have a "right" to do so, even if I am not qualified to? Could I go to NASA's door and say that my "rights" are being violated because I can't go to Mars? Would San Fransisco's mayor help me with this? Or Rosie O'Donnell?

Drop me a line and we'll talk.

Fourth and finally I would like to talk about jobs. From the local to the federal stages all anyone can talk about is the lack of jobs out there. But what kind of jobs are we talking about? From what I can understand it is mostly in the manufacturing arenas. And if that is the case then the only thing I can say is quit your whining! Those in the field of manufacturing have milked this country dry thanks to the short- sightedness of the unions. It seems that these "long-term" thinkers can't see beyond their next contract negotiation.

What kind of CEO looks at the situation and says, gee, I want to lose more money this year. I want to pay someone forty dollars and hour to push a broom, give them medical coverage and a six week vacation.

They tried that in Europe and look where that has gotten them.

People go into business to make money. They want nice things for themselves and their families. They usually end up working long hours and all without a complaint.

If there are those of you out there who want more of the American dream, then stop whining and start your own business. I can almost bet that you'll be changing political parties faster than Kerry can raise taxes.
