Aug 6, 2003 When I look at our economy today, and over the past three years or so, I wonder how it could have gotten SO bad. But somehow it did! Looking back in the Clinton years, you don't know how badly I want to go back to how good we were then. But now, I pray it doesn't get any worse. Here are the facts: Clinton: (let's start with the good news) http://clinton4.nara.gov/WH/Accomplishments/economy.html * In February 2000, the United States entered the 107th consecutive month of economic expansion -- the longest economic expansion in history. * In 1992, the Federal budget deficit was $290 BILLION. Projections were for it to get worse in 1993, to $455 BILLION. In 2000, the projections were a SURPLUS of $211, which is the THIRD consecutive surplus! That is purely amazing. *22.2 MILLION new jobs created! More than Presidents Reagan and older Bush COMBINED. The economy averaged about 255,000 new jobs each month. This is better than the 52,000 under Bush and 167,000 under Reagan. Now ALL of these are BETTER than our current President. And if we did not like the older Bush's economy, we definitely can't let this one get away with it! * The LOWEST unemployment rate in three decades, down to 4.0 in mid-2000. Female was also down to 4.0 in April 2000, the lowest since 1953, almost half a CENTURY! * Homeownership rate highest EVER at 66.8% in 1999. Now, taking a look at that, I wonder how in the world Bush could mess all of that up, but he did. How are the statistics doing now? Let's take a look. Bush: (the bad news had to come sometime) * About 44,000 people have LOST jobs in the past MONTH, July 2003! * Since Bush has taken office, there have been only 5 months where there have been job increases in payroll employment, on an average of 72,600 jobs each month. On the OTHER HAND, all the other months mean LOSING jobs, on an average of 127,210 LOST jobs each month, for a total of 24 months, or TWO YEARS. (from 1993 - 2000, Clinton's reign, there were only 4 months TOTAL of lots jobs, the most was only 46,000) * You think the unemployment rate is getting better? Just in 2003, the rate has jumped from 5.7% to 6.2%. It was 4.2% when Bush took office. And Bush thinking his tax cut would help out the economy? Yeah right. All it did was give the bucks to the poor and dig us further into debt. Our states have the sense to keep restrictions on going into debt, meaning they CAN'T, and when Bush messes up, the states have to clean up for it, meaning boosting the taxes. But it isn't the states' fault, it is Bush's!
I personally, have had enough of what is going on with
Bush and what he is doing to our country, our environment,
AND our economy! You saw what Clinton did, the good he
did, and now you see how much Bush is messing up! We
have to fix this, and the only way is to make sure Bush
DOESN'T come back in 2004!
