June 27, 2003 God works in mysterious ways, no doubt. He works in grand ways, in amazing ways, some you just do not believe until you see them yourself. This past week I was at a Boys' Home, and I saw lives in such a different view. These boys, and some old enough to be men, live here in what is considered a camp. They live together in groups, and make their own food, and when old enough have their own jobs. But yet, they are so very different from myself and my friends that I went along with. There are just boys. They have very little contact with girls and the outside world. People like the group I went with go their to work and clean up the place, but to be with these boys. We both seem so different, when I can go to the mall when I like or see a movie when I like or do what I want, while these boys cannot. How they even can handle each other for months to year astounds me. I go crazy when I am with a friend non-stop for a week, what about months and years, without your parents. The people there become their family, God becomes their family. God is a main point of the boys life there. They go there voluntarily, on their will, because of they do not enjoy their life at home, or their parents cannot support them. They willingly join a home to become a real family, and become with God. There are ten year olds, and nine year olds there who have a better understanding of God than most people I know. Going through the experiences they have, and then coming to the home, they somehow find an amazing amount of time to find and be with God, or to finally let God find them. These boys at the home are amazing. While in the situations they are in, they live their lives with the fullest potential. They live their lives with joy and happiness. And in the meantime, they are with God. How these lives can be so different from yours and from mine, and yet they are no different than us. How these boys live so differently and in strict lives and they are still with God forever. They may seem different, and yet they are not different at all. ------------ About the author: Matthew Stensrud is a high school student who loves politics and life.
