Oct 22, 2003 Much to the chagrin of absolutely no one, I have returned to the pages of Useless Knowledge, "gracing" them if you are a conservative, "disgracing," if you are a Liberalcrat. I was going to begin this article with, "after receiving scores of fan mail, urging, begging and pleading that I return to fight the evils of Liberalism," but, alas, I have received no such mail. I am a conservative, so I am not going to engage in open and naked lying about such matters. I will leave that to those who do it best, the Democrats. I have been AWOL from Useless Knowledge for the past month, mainly because I have become politically bored. The Right is right, the Left is wrong. That's it. There are only so many articles to pen, to illustrate this truism, before it becomes tiresome and repetitive; much like the comically bombastic and stunningly defamatory rhetoric of our President, coming from the Left. What has happened during my hiatus? Californians elected Arnold as governor. As a fiscally tight-fisted conservative, he will prove to be a great success in...I'm sorry, I really am, please don't throw things..."terminating" the free-for-all spending, and monetary pandering of special interest groups, that was the mission statement of the Davis administration. Now I realize this is not much of a compliment. A mentally disabled seal would probably be able to do a better job than Gray Davis, or Cruz Bustamante. (Whether it would fare better than the porn star or Gary Coleman, the world will never know. But I am betting that all three could find Sacramento if pointed in the right direction.) The real winner is Tom McClintock. A traditional conservative, he had another strong showing in an election, and now people know him, and his platform, nationally. McClintock is being primed to make a run for the Senate in the very near future. Rush Limbaugh has a drug problem. Rush admitted that he has an ongoing addiction to a powerfully addictive painkiller, because of an unsuccessful spinal operation, which may have caused his deafness in one ear - one of its many side effects. Now El Rushbo is facing a criminal investigation for allegedly illegally purchasing prescription drugs, based on information given by his former maid, who was paid by a tabloid paper to divulge what she knew. Rush has since taken himself off the air, and checked himself into rehab. This is disappointing for conservatives, since we believe in self-discipline and moderation; especially since it's Rush Limbaugh, the most powerful, and most listened to, conservative in our country's history. I wish Rush well. I hope he breaks free from the iron- claw clutches of addiction, and becomes healthy again, emerging has a wiser and better Rush. I also hope, if he did commit a crime, that he is prosecuted, and given the appropriate penalty. The unfailingly failing Democrat presidential hopefuls. The nine nominees are still banging their "Bush is the worse world leader since Hitler and Reagan" drum, and like any drum solo in a concert, it has been needless and interminable. The strategy of the Dim-ocrat nominees is puzzling. The ground they have staked out is a narrow sliver of crumbling soil that is predicated on the fact that every intelligence agency in the world was wrong in swearing that Saddam had weapons programs and the beginnings of biological and chemical "ammo" to load into the weapons; that Saddam's underlings were lying to the Butcher of Baghdad, making him think they had biological and chemical capabilities that they didn't actually have, and that Saddam kicked the U.N. inspectors out in 1998, then got rid of all of his weapons, and then acted as if he had biological and chemical capabilities for the next five years, in full defiance of the U.N., who promised decisive action against him if he broke his promise, this time. And General Wesley Clark. Fired from his post as NATO Supreme Allied Commander. Bombed an airport in Serbia, our ally, so the Russians could not lay claim to it, nearly starting WWIII. A general who is generally dismissed and denigrated by his peers for being less a soldier than a bureaucratic-savvy politician. Clark jumped into the Democrat presidential nomination ring, thus ceremoniously ending non-presidential-looking Howard Dean's chances of winning the nomination. Dean may be ahead in the polls in Iowa and New Hampshire, but the Democrats will never elect someone so unelectable and openly belligerent. Howard Dean always looks like he is a cross word away from snapping. He never looks like he is at ease. He always looks like it is taking every ounce of his being not to break out into a psychotic fit and beat someone into oblivion. It doesn't help his appearance that he is just looking for a fight when he always has his shirt sleeves rolled up, his tie low and askew, and his coat off. Now, Mean Dean has two opponents who have that presidential ardor: John Kerry and Wesley Clark. Wesley Clark is a nice Democrat concept - an anti- war soldier who likes high taxes and abortion - but, when placed into the context of reality, his lack of specifics, on top of his liberal platform, will not play in the fly-over states. This leaves John Kerry. Kerry has the aura, name recognition, and experience needed to make a run at President Bush. What will be interesting, and potentially scandalous, is if Dean wins Iowa, New Hampshire and South Carolina, and the puppetmasters of the DNC, led my Terry McAuliffe, trumps the wishes of the Average Joe Democrats, and nominates John Kerry instead. Do not put it past the Democrats. They will do anything to regain control of the White House. Anything. So what have I been doing with my time? I am writing a novel.
