Aug 21, 2003 Liberals go out of their way to remind us they have our best interests at heart. Since they are the ideology of "worldliness," they are able to see the "nuances" of societal and policy matters that we - the mentally challenged yak herd - can't. If you take away "nuance," you leave liberals without half their argument. If you take away "it's a complicated issue," you take away the other half. But liberals maintain they are "for the people." Liberalcrats across this great nation claim they speak on behalf of "a majority of Americans." "Americans don't want God and Patriotism imposed on them." In October 2001, a Rocklin, Ca. Elementary school was sued for putting "God Bless America" on their outdoor marquee, because one parent complained. Forced to take the patriotic message off its board, the school eventually prevailed and the message was returned, after a pro-America and pro-God rally shamed the "parent" into withdrawing their lawsuit. "America is mostly pro choice." "Change in Pro Life and Pro Choice Support from 1996-2001: Pro-life rose from 33% to 43% Pro-choice declined from 56% to 48%. In 1980, there were 1,553,900 abortions. In 1996, there were 1,365,700." From 1973-2001, there were 40 million children killed by abortion. That is the population of Australia. "You can't ban abortion, because what if the life of the mother is danger?" Liberals act as if our medical technology hasn't progressed beyond bloodletting, and performing exorcisms on people who have schizophrenia. According to them, tens upon thousands of women are dying in America from complications during childbirth, each year, when it's 585,000, worldwide. "You can't ban abortion, because what about in the case of rape or incest?" This is the biggest lie perpetrated by pro-abortionists. "The overwhelming majority of all abortions, (95%), are done as a means of birth control. 1% are performed because of rape or incest; 1% because of fetal abnormalities; 3% due to the mother's health problems." 45 states now have the "Baby Moses Law." This law says that any woman who doesn't want her child can drop them off at a state agency, within sixty days of birth, no questions asked. Not to mention good, ol' fashion adoption. "The majority of Americans feel guns are evil." "Thirty-one states allow residents to carry concealed handguns, and several others are considering them. These " states have reduced murders, on average, by 7.7 %, rapes by 5 %, aggravated assaults by 7 % and robbery by 3%. If those states that did not permit concealed handguns in 1992 had permitted them back then, citizens would have been spared approximately 1,570 murders, 4,177 rapes, 60,000 aggravated assaults and 12,000 robberies. The number of murders and other assaults occurred in part because would-be assailants are afraid of encountering armed would-be victims." "Two recent studies have shown that firearm ownership actually reduces crime. Survey research shows there are over two million protective uses of firearms each year, far more than the number of criminal gun uses reported by the FBI. "Americans feel that guns kill thousands of children each year." In 1997, 473 children, from infant to sixteen years old, died by a firearm. "The majority of Americans believe guns are responsible for deaths of countless innocent people." 32,436 people in the United States were killed by guns in 1997. Over 13,000 homicides, 17,000 suicides and 2,000 accidental deaths. Of the homicides, two-thirds, were criminals shooting criminals. This leaves 4300 innocent people who were murdered by a gun. In 1997: Motor vehicles: 43,200 deaths Falls: 14,900 deaths Poisoning by solids or liquids: 8,600 deaths Drowning: 4,000 deaths Fires, burns and related deaths: 3,700 deaths Suffocation by swallowing object: 3,300 deaths Poisoning by gases and vapors: 700 deaths Firearms-related: 1,500 deaths Injuries to Children: 1. Baseball/softball 404,000 2. Dog bites 334,000 3. Playground 267,000 4. ATV's, mopeds 125,000 5. Volleyball 98,000 6. In-line skating 76,000 7. Horseback riding 71,000 8. Baby walkers 28,000 9. Skateboards 25,000 There is no mention of guns or shooting activities. But liberalism hinges on ignoring evidence. Listening to undiluted data may cause one to actually think. As I have stated before, liberals feel. They feel guns are bad because they kill people, so, therefore guns are bad. That is the extent of their rationality and argument. No matter how many hard facts you put in front of them, liberals close their eyes, stick their fingers in their ears and begin chanting: "guns are bad," "war is bad," "capitalism is bad," "God is bad," "abortion is good," "tax the living daylights out of people is good," "secularism is good." When they do "answer," they are invariably rabid: "Well what about those 473 children killed by guns? What about them? Don't you care about innocent children who are brutally murdered?"
