Mar 25, 2003 Weightloss, a yucky and touchy topic for many slightly overweight severely overweight and obese people. Of course no one knows best then those people themselves, including myself who have been in that boat of weight loss and dieting, paddling and rowing along, trying to get to shore, and just knowing how hard it is to stick to a weight loss plan and to actually follow through with it. Fact is,people still struggle to find their perfect weight. It’s a battle not just with themselves but it’s also a battle with food and their surrounding environment, from the point they wake up in the morning till they go to bed at night. The point is, all though as hard and grueling as diets may be to stick with, Weightloss and Diets have their rewards! What kind of rewards am I talking about? For instance, there is the reward of feeling lighter and being able to be more active. A person can accomplish much more when they get up and move on a daily basis, where as someone who doesn’t feel like moving around and they get overwhelmed with enormous tiredness and just feel like doing nothing but rest. Another reward that Diets and Weightloss have, is the reward of being able to be happy with themselves and being happy with what they see when they look in a mirror. People imagine themselves to be a few lbs lighter all the time, but there’s nothing better then being able to see the weightloss results themselves in a mirror and being able to fit into a pair of smaller clothes. Many people just dream about that happening, and don’t do anything about it, but when it finally happens and when it actually does come true, the feeling is so overwhelmingly joyful that it puts all those struggles to rest. It would be something so worth while waiting for. Then of course with the two previous rewards I mentioned, there is also the reward of knowing now that YOU CAN lose weight and that you are more aware of what you are eating so you just don’t bounce right back to the weight you were once at. It’s a nightmare to look back at being heavy set, and many promise themselves never to go back again. So what many do then in order to help keep their weight off and stay off is, they throw out their old clothes and go shopping for new smaller sizes, and maybe just for memories sake, keep a pair of old super size pants or shirts around just as a reminder of how far they have come, how far they continue to go, and how terrible food can really be. Food can normally be a good source of nutrient as we need food to survive, but in terms of weight loss and dieting, food can be the devil and the absolute doom, lurking around for moments of weaknesses, and then wanting to push people right over the edge when things like depression and stress hit. But once people gain control over their Food, their Dieting and Weightloss, nothing can stop their determination of wanting to look good. Another thing I would like to mention in terms of rewards of dieting and weightloss is this: Once people achieve their desired weight goal, everyone around the dieter as well as the dieter themselves start to notice their appearance, a lighter skin color perhaps, more clear skin, smaller clothes, a less fuller face, and just the fact of looking great and feeling great without having to wonder if they would ever be able to fit into a pair of clothes that seem like its made for people who are chop-sticky skinny with a model like figure. Everyone can look great once they lose weight and tone up, everyone has a great body, but it just happens to be hidden under layers of clothes or layers of “Pudge”. And of course there is always the thing of people either making you go on a diet or you put your foot down and go on one yourself because you yourself are determined of wanting to look great. You beat the battle of dieting and weightloss and you win the game of looking great! Everyone can do it and will do it, but there is a lot of determination that is needed. Once the Pudge is gone, everyone is ready to burst out of that shell and present his or her new and happy self. About the author: Kimberly Nguyen is a full time college student / Journalism Major.
