Thoughts On The War With Iraq
Mar 24, 2003

As we turn to day four of this War with Iraq, the numbers of casualties keeps rising and I find myself worried for my friends in the armed forces who are out there putting themselves on the line doing their duty for their country right about now.

My opinion on this war, as everyone is entitled to his or her is this:

My opinion is that this war is just simply beyond STUPID! Reason why I say this? I am not PRO WAR but I am however for PRO supporting our Troops. No one ever really likes war, its something that just happens.

This whole war started out back in 1991 with Bush Senior sitting in the presidential seat and taking part of the Gulf War. This time its President Bush Jr., who is in charge of this war again a war against Sadam Hussein and Iraq.

I just found it stupid however, of Bush to tell Sadam to get out of Iraq. Who does he think he is? Just because he’s the President of the United States doesn’t mean he’s the ruler of the world and there was no way Sadam was going to listen.

Fact is, Sadam owns Iraq just as Fidel Castro owns Cuba. And telling Sadam to pack up his belongings and get out of Iraq is pretty much the same thing as telling Fidel Castro to pack up his Cuban Cigars and get out of Cuba. The effect that both have are NONE!

Of course Sadam wasn’t going to listen to President Bush, everyone could see that ahead of time. That was just something inevitable. Who in their right mind would just pack up what they own and get out, just because some one feels like being the big cheese and likes to tell people to do so? That’s not how it goes. So Sadam stayed and this war began.

Looking at this War situation, as it is broadcasted daily on television so everyone is up to date with the latest from Kuwait, Iraq and other places I must say I am pleased with the way technology works and how far its come. The Video phones and satelite broadcasts seem to be receptioned quite well, as we sit at home and watch each news segment and the news itself, how ever some broadcasts proof to be still a bit blurry.

Of course with War comes discussions and Patriotism. It’s great to see the Americans supporting their armed forces and coming together at this time of war, but I think its wrong of many to say that this war is all Sadam'’ fault and that we should give him what he deserves. I am not supporting Sadam, but I am asking myself, what about President Bush? Isn’t this war part of his doing as well as Sadam’s? It takes two to tango and it takes two to start a war.

It is said that President Bush is smart to start this war on Sadam, because Sadam didn’t listen to Bush’s warning. Looking at the bigger picture, I would say that Sadam is smarter then Bush because it is Bush who has U.S. troops attacking Sadam’s homes trying to find him. In the mean time, Sadam sits back and waits for the U.S. Troops to hit his territory so he can be ready with his troops and take the U.S. troops out. That’s pretty smart thinking if you ask me, because it has yet to be determined how the U.S. Troops will deal with and how they will hold up in Sadam’s territory.

So far, the U.S. has sustained several casualties thus far. On Britain’s side the death toll thus far comes to much higher but both some how seem to be on an even level.

Of course accidents are always bound to happen, especially during wartime, but I feel that these accidental deaths of the helicopters crashing and colliding were unjust. These accidental deaths shouldn’t have happened because now we’re lower in numbers, in regards to the enemy. We need everyone functioning and as well as every available help we can get to get this war over with so the troops can do the jobs they are trained for and do what is asked of them, and come home.

This war is not Bush’s fault but Sadam isn’t innocent either, as he is putting the Iraqi people through poverty. This is basically the same doing as what Ho Chi Minh has put the Vietnamese people through during the time of the Vietnam War. The starving and suffering has to be put to an end and Sadam has to be put out of power.

The unfortunate is that the armed forces have to go out there and clean up a mess that’s been started and having to put their lives at risk. I wish it wouldn’t have to be this way but this is unfortunately just the way it has to be.

I hope that no more accidental deaths will happen, as we need everyone to function and that the death toll will stay low for both the U.S. as well as Britain, until this war is over.

As of now our troops are out there fighting and I wish them well. Here’s to the Troops, Anchors Aweigh , Semper Fi , and Whooah!
