Oct 7, 2003 Many people often wonder how or even if they could ever have a successful weightloss journey. They struggle day in and day out and in the end just decide to give up, because after all, what’s the use it just takes too much energy to change. So no matter what they do in the end, they will just be the size they are. It doesn’t have to be this way at all. Here are some useful tips that I found are helpful to me. First of all “BE HONEST WITH YOURSELF” Do you really like yourself the way you are right now? If so then don’t bother reading the rest of this. Stop right there! But hey, if you really hate yourself? CHANGE! Get up from your seat, get up from the couch and start moving around. Put on your shoes and go for a walk around the block , or around your yard, a few times, you will be glad you did. Set yourself a Weightloss Goal. How long do you think it would take for you to have your perfect body to your liking? Be ready to fall. Be ready to get right back up again. Learn to understand yourself and your body. Have a great attitude about your wanting to change. Start your Weightloss Journey. Work out 3-7 Days a week doing things like Swimming, Step Aerobics, Pilates and some Yoga. Buy some useful exercise equipment. Do not let it collect dust or become an item where you hang your clothes on. Buy a treadmill or other items at a Garage or Yard Sale. Hey, Bargain hunting is great since some one decided to give up on their life and their health doesn’t mean you should too! Cut Your Fast Foods For GOOD! Cut Your Fried Foods FOR GOOD! Cut Your Soda this also means Diet Soda For GOOD. What’s with the artificial flavoring so it tastes like Soda? If you do Soda, do the real thing or none at all! Cut your Carbs smaller. You don’t have to give them up entirely just eat smaller portions and you can still have them in your lives. Get to know your Vegetables. They might be green icky but hey what’s good for your health usually tastes and looks icky. You’ll be happy about it later when the scale changes. Try Soy products. They aren’t as bad as people say they are. Experiment around with Weightloss products (Equipments) on the market. Its ok, go find what fits you best and commit yourself to it permanently. Stay away from all sorts of Weightloss Shakes and Pills. They never work out in the end. Know what you can or can’t have and where it goes to your body after its consumed. Examine yourself closely and you will understand where each item of food goes after its digested. Some people end up with big thighs, or big butts , some have flabby arms, and some end up with a really big stomach. Its not just food, but its where it goes that can be ugly. Understand that YOU ARE YOUR OWN HUMAN GUINEA PIG on this weightloss journey. Try keeping your portions to about a fist or a cup each. NO seconds! Do NOT eat in front of the TV. Eat with family or eat at the table away from the TV that way you are more aware of how big a spoon full really is. NO Snacking on Chips or Crackers. Try some Fruit or Sugar Free Jello. It’s much more healthy then you think. No late night Snacking. I know we all have a late night urge for a snack once in a while, but instead of grabbing for Chips grab some Celery Sticks or some Fruit. Cut your Bread in take to about half a Sandwich or even 1/3 it does wonders. Use Online Support like Weightloss Forums or Weightloss Chat rooms. They are great and people of all shapes and sizes come together to offer each other support. Have plenty of Weightloss Buddies. Remember: Your weight didn’t come on over night. It won’t leave over night Know It’s ok to lose weight slowly slow is always better then fast rapid weightloss. Don’t stress. The more you stress the longer it will take for your current weight to change. Know It’s ok to give up your heavy past. Just be sure you are ready for a healthy new life. NO Cheating! One splurge day can automatically cause a set back. We don’t want set backs we want results! Each day you are set back, is another day further away from your weight goal. Horrible day: If you Cheat: You are just a sucker who falls victim to the yummy bad things that call your name. You cheat yourself and your weight goal, no one else’s fault but yours. So back to the drawing board my friend. Now you have to work twice as hard to achieve your weight goal. How stupid was that ? Stick to your Weightloss Goals no matter what! Some days are more trying then others but the result will be worth while. Sucessful day: Each successful day is a day closer to the size you want to be. Relax and enjoy how far you’ve come since you don’t have to work as hard as people who cheat themselves. Embrace the new You! Look forward to each day after and during weightloss but welcome the new you and welcome the change. Be positive no matter what. ------------ About the author: Kimberly Nguyen is a full time college student / Journalism Major.
