$25.00 just to hear You got Mail? Who still pays that?
June 11, 2003

Who actually pays 20 something dollars a month for Internet access, just to hear U GOT MAIL? Be honest!

Several years back before MSN, Juno, Net Zero, and Earthlink where introduced into everyone’s household many people started out their first Internet experience with America Online!

I started my first Internet experience back in 1998 and my family too was using America Online (AOL) as they call it for short.

It was quite nice and new experience as you sit there and wait to logg on to the world of Internet.

The first thing you’d automatically hear would be “WELCOME” followed by “YOU GOT MAIL”. Now being brand new to the Internet that seems pretty user friendly and that feeling of hearing “WELCOME” does make you feel quite welcome instead of feeling anxious and nervous about being in a brand new environment so everyone can find some comfort to relax.

It just seems to hit the comfort spot when you are brand new to the Internet and hear something as soothing and friendly as “WELCOME” “YOU GOT MAIL”. Doesn’t your face just want to light up and feel loved?

When I first heard those sounds the first few months I was excited too, like a little kid in a candy store, wanting to see who wrote me since I just had gotten the hang of giving out my E-mail address!

After that, months passed and every time I would logg on but as time went by I realized that it would get pretty annoying as well. I mean you just get soo used to hearing “YOU GOT MAIL” and after a while of being used to the Internet and its surroundings, you learn to leave junk mail in the In Box or delete it or block it, how ever you feel like doing things once you are used to the whole Internet experience.

But getting back to my point…

These days there’s no such thing as really “Free Internet access ” anymore unless you use the Free Trial CD’s found at every local store in your neighborhood. Other then that you’re pretty much bound to pay anything from $ 7.00, $ 10.00, and $15.00 to even $25.00 these days for regular Internet access. But who would seriously want to pay up to $25.00 just to hear YOU GOT MAIL?

These days soo many people are switching Internet providers on a regular basis, just because the economy is on the verge of plummeting right through the ground, so who can afford to pay so very much just to check their E-mail or use job search engines like Monster.com or Careerbuilder.com, without having it cost them an arm and a leg at the same time?

Fact is we can do without AOL and without their $25.00 a month Internet charge. We can use other Internet providers and still get to check our e- mails at Yahoo.com or Hotmail.com and more of that money can be put aside and saved for other more special events in life.

Who is really paying $25.00 a month? If you are paying $25.00 a month and you’re on the verge of losing your job no matter if AOL updates its versions frequently or not, pardon my saying, but you’re nothing more then a seriously crazy cookie NUTSO!

There are plenty of wonderful new Internet providers that should be looked at and they do nothing more then give you great service and get you to safe a lot on your money. These days that I think , that great Internet Service is much more of value and importance, then shelling out 20 something dollars each month just to hear YOU GOT MAIL!
