June 16, 2003 "I myself am convinced that the theory of evolution, especially the extent to which it's been applied, will be one of the great jokes in the history books of the future. Posterity will marvel that so very flimsy and dubious an hypothesis could be accepted with the incredible credulity that it has." Malcolm Muggeridge Well-known Journalist and philosopher Pascal Lectures, University of Waterloo In 1972 I was an erstwhile Anthropology student at Indiana State University. I still remember how baffled I was by the methods we were taught to evaluate, identify and date fossils. It was quickly apparent that giant leaps of logic were built in to the mechanism by which a couple of teeth would be used to envision the entire skeleton of a prehistoric man. Differences in ape teeth and human teeth were studied vigorously while we came to realize that there were very few fossil fragments of possible missing links that had ever been found. I later took a paleontology course in which the layers of rock strata found upon the earth were studied. When it came to sedimentary rock, it seemed that the rock strata were assigned ages based upon the fossils contained therein, and the fossils were aged by the strata in which they were found. (?) While we in the classroom were taught about all the nice neat layers of rock found in the field, I discovered that in the real world the layers are often askew. Not only are “older” layers found on top of younger, sometimes a younger one will be sandwiched between two older ones! Fossil records are the subjects of another treatise, but here is the point: What is taught in the classrooms is not what is found in the real world when it comes to Evolution and Fossils. Often the variations are the result of intentional deception. Today the subject is Neanderthal Man. We have seen the pictures of the stooped-over, heavy- browed cave-dweller with a big club. There is more good fossil evidence of Neanderthal than most erstwhile human ancestors. The question is whether what we have been told matches the evidence. (There is a brief overview of some of the other famous candidates for our forefathers discovered in the last century at the end of this article.) Neanderthal Man has been one of the enduring examples of Evolutionists. While they do not now claim that Neanderthal was a direct ancestor of Homo Sapiens, they do conclude that Neanderthal is proof of human evolution, a branch of the evolutionary tree that later died off. But the truth is startling and disturbing: There never was such a man! “Buried Alive” is a book by Dr. Jack Cuozzo. In it he relates his adventures as he set off to radiograph some of the Neanderthal skulls contained in French museums. As an orthodontist and forensic specialist, he was interested particularly in using a specialized machine to take measurements of the Neanderthal children. He was surprised at the resistance he met when he sought to view actual Neanderthal remains. But that surprise was nothing compared to what he found when allowed to examine the skulls. (Dr Cuozzo examined both child and adult skulls during his time in Europe). Subterfuge Dr Cuozzo first noticed that the jaws of the skulls had been placed forward in order to give an ape-like appearance. His first encounter with the Pech de L’Aze (skull of a child) shocked him, since he had a drawing of the skull in his possession that showed the typical protruding ape- like jaw and brow ridges. The skull not only did not have prominent brow ridges, but the drawing had the jaw out of alignment. The teeth were said to be maloccluded. Dr. Cuozzo simply placed the jaw into alignment and then the teeth fit together perfectly as well. It was obvious to anyone with the slightest knowledge of anatomy that the jaw should have been placed back where it would normally attach. Of course, this would give the child a normal human appearance rather than the Neanderthal face attributed to him. Upon inspecting the famous La Chapelle-aux-Saints skull Cuozzo found the same situation; jaw deliberately misplaced to give an ape-like appearance even though the remaining teeth fit together properly when the jaw was put in the correct position. He concluded that he had discovered a conspiracy to give Neanderthals an apelike appearance to differentiate them from Homo Sapiens. He also found that the La Quina V skull, once displaying a strong chin when discovered in 1911, had by 1979 a “plastic surgery” in which the chin was removed to give the skull a more classic “Neanderthal” appearance. Dr Cuozzo’s examination of Neanderthal remains revealed a consistent subterfuge to manipulate the fossils so as to make them appear less human. He also studied the places in which the fossils had been found. He came to several startling conclusions: Neanderthals were actually humans capable of living to an advanced age well beyond our normal life expectancy. The heavier brow ridges of the adult skulls are due to the natural growth of the skull over time. Human skulls continue to grow over time. To simplify the process, they tend to grow forward and downwards over time. We have observed that older people tend to have longer ears and noses. The skull under the face is also growing. Those familiar with the Bible know that men living before the Flood often exceeded 900 years old. The ages to which people lived after the flood shrunk dramatically until someone living over 100 years became uncommon. But the Neanderthals could easily have been people alive soon after the flood, capable of still living for a few hundred years and leaving skulls indicating a very long life indeed. Dr Cuozzo’s examination of the sites at which the Neanderthals were found revealed that the Neanderthals had sophisticated tools equivalent to the “Cro-Magnon” men of the same era. Their cave drawings and carvings also indicate that their sight was sharper than modern man’s and that they could see in light that would be too dim for our eyes. (Studies of Cro-Magnon man have indicated that he was simply Homo Sapiens.) Death to the Infidel! Evolutionists sometimes resemble a toddler who hides his face with his hands and therefore believes no one can see him. The Neanderthal situation is one of deliberate deception. The scientists associated with the remains have lied to themselves and the world in an attempt to make Neanderthal Man something other than strictly human. “Buried Alive” reveals the truth behind the façade. “Buried Alive” is also the account of a man and his family and friends who find themselves running for their very lives to escape those who would shut their mouths before revealing what they had discovered. I cannot recommend the book enough. Hopefully your curiosity will be piqued and you will read it for yourself (ISBN 0- 89051-238-8). It is available at most major booksellers and/or online. The truth behind the Neanderthal man is even more disturbing for what it reveals about dedicated Evolutionary scientists. For many of them, Evolution is an intrinsic part of their belief systems and they must defend it and bend or distort evidence to advance their faith. By his courage, bravery and skill Jack Cuozzo revealed the dark secrets behind the Neanderthal fossils. One wonders how many other hoaxes have been successfully perpetrated on the unknowing public in the name of science? In conclusion, Neanderthal Man was simply man. He lived longer and was probably more physically gifted than we are today. Ironically, Darwin’s Title: “Descent of Man” was correct. Modern Medicine has made us believe that we can make ourselves into supermen. But in fact both man and all of creation is, by mutation and disease and pollution, going downhill. Just as the Second Law of Thermodynamics tells us that all processes move from energy to entropy. This is the way of the universe and this is the way of mankind. Peking Man All that remains of the Peking Man are paperwork, photographs and negatives. The fossils were lost in 1939 following the Japanese invasion of China. There is no opportunity to review the evidence. Java Man Consists of a skullcap. Teeth were found in the area and a femur found perhaps 12 meters away has now been positively identified as human. The debate rages as to whether this was a Gibbon or a man. Creationists say that it is simply a large Gibbon and that human remains in the same general area found at the same time make the idea of Java Man extinct. Piltdown Man- Known Fraud (From the Don Lindsay archives) In 1912, it was announced that the skull and jaw of a pre-human had been found in Britain. The same people found similar fragments nearby in 1913 and 1915. In 1953, chemical tests proved that the fossils were frauds. Someone had taken a slightly odd "modern" human skull, and the jaw of an orangutan. They had been stained, filed, smashed, and so on, in a fairly clever way. Nebraska Man- Mistaken Identity (From the Don Lindsay archives) In 1922, a Nebraska geologist sent a fossilized tooth to Henry Osborn, head of the American Museum of Natural History. Osborn was involved with the Scopes Monkey Trial, and was delighted at the new evidence for his side. He rushed to publication, and announced the new species Hesperopithecus ("Ape of the western world"). It seemed, he said, more human than ape. But what happened next? The answer is that Osborn himself went to Nebraska in the summers of 1925 and 1926. Many more teeth were found, and it became apparent that they weren't from an ape. They belonged to an extinct peccary, Prosthennops. A retraction of Hesperopithecus was published in 1927. Zinjanthropus, "Lucy” and other Australopithecines Even Louis Leakey’s own son has decreed that Zinjanthropus has turned out to be simply a fossil of a form of Australopithecus. In other words, a kind of ape. Australopithecines like Lucy have been trumpeted as human ancestors. Lucy was probably about 3’6” tall and weighed about 50 pounds. Her skull is quite ape-like and her hands and feet as well. It is likely that Lucy was an ape that spent some time on the ground but was largely arboreal. When she was on the ground, she could be bipedal. In no way does that qualify her as an ancestor to humans. Flat- Faced Man (Kenyanthropus Platyops2) is another of the same family now relegated to the missing-link discard pile. The Leakeys and others working vigorously in Africa to find ancestors of humans keep finding new missing links. One by one they turn out to be either the remains of a human or the remains of a type of ape. Homo Habilis is another example of these fossils. The fossils are still that of a small apelike creature who spent much time in trees and yet could be bipedal if on the ground. There are vast numbers of birds who spend most of their time in trees but are bipedal when on the ground. That trait in itself is not enough to make habilis or any of the others an ancestor of man. ------------ About the author Kimbal Ross Binder: Erstwhile gym-rat, former independent driven by disgust for the Democratic Party into the arms of the Republicans, current parent and expert at puns, jokes that make people groan and eating Debbie's cooking.
