July 1, 2003 The horror of the story recounted during the trial of Chante Mallard, convicted now of the murder of Gregory Biggs, is revealed on several levels. It appears that Mallard had been drinking and using illegal drugs before driving. Her senses were terribly impaired. Then, after the crash left the helpless victim crumpled in her windshield, bleeding and mangled, she did nothing to save him. She seemed paralyzed by her plight and perhaps more concerned about being punished than saving his life. He apparently hung on to life for about two hours before expiring. Mallard recruited friends to help her cover up the crime (Friends who have now been convicted and sentenced as accessories). She managed to avoid detection for about four months. Chante Mallard faced her judgment with tears. One suspects the tears were primarily for her, although mixed with genuine remorse. But prosecutor Richard Alpert remarked that the case "is all about selfishness. Some people lack the moral fiber to do the right thing," he said. "A man is laying in her car moaning and bleeding and she needs someone to tell her what to do? Any decent person would call for help." (From an AP story by Angela Brown). Mallard received a sentence of 50 years for murder and 10 years for tampering with evidence. We tell ourselves that WE would NEVER have done such a horrible thing. As individuals, that is probably an accurate statement. The prosecutor’s statement assumed that a “decent” individual’s “moral fiber” would preclude them from allowing such a hideous scenario to unfold. But are we a “decent” country with “moral fiber?” I greatly fear for you, for us, in the light of our recent history. I say that we had already been intoxicated on selfishness and “progressive” politics and a Supreme Court that has become accustomed to creating rather than preserving the letter of the law blinded our moral compass. Each step towards eliminating the Judeo-Christian foundations upon which this nation was established sends us careening faster and further down the road. ROE V WADE We as a society have murdered over 42 million babies since the Roe v Wade decision. The overwhelming majority of all abortions, (95%), are done as a means of birth control. Only 1% are performed because of rape or incest…(Central Illinois Right To Life). Abortion is a $90 Billion dollar business, not only in the charges for the operation itself but also in the money to be made from the sale of fetus parts. Planned Parenthood alone raked in $68 million in abortion procedures in 2000 (April 2002 edition of the Ryan Report) Consider some language from a 1997 brochure for Opening Lines, one of many wholesalers for the marketing of baby body parts to researchers, drug companies, hospitals and universities: "Our objective is to give you the highest quality products prepared to your specifications and delivered when you need it." The brochure boasted of more than 1,500 deliveries of fetal parts per day. Typical charges included $150 for a spinal column; $400 for an intact embryonic cadaver; $75 for the eyeballs of an eight-week-old baby (with a 40 percent discount for a single eye); $150 for two arms or legs; and $100 for the skin of a 12- week-old baby. (WorldNet Daily) Three hundred and forty seven women have died as a result of abortion procedures since the Roe decision. (Lifedynamics.com, which includes a list of names.) SUPREME COURT OVERRULES THE 1986 BOWERS V HARDWICK DECISION It was this branch of government that made abortion legal while bypassing the legislative and executive branches. It is the same branch that now threatens the basic moral fabric of our nation. The court explicitly overruled the 1986 Bowers v. Hardwick decision, which upheld state anti-sodomy laws in general and bans on homosexual acts in particular. The decision struck down laws banning homosexual conduct in Texas and three other states. The decision also affects nine other states, including Louisiana, that ban sodomy altogether. The court's work left Douglas Kmiec, a Pepperdine University constitutional law professor and former legal adviser to Republican presidents, shaking his head. ``In affirmative action, federal-state relations, and, after the sodomy case, basic - and I do mean very basic - principles of constitutional interpretation have been tossed aside, not conserved.'' (Washington Times) Back in April, Pennsylvania Republican Sen. Rick Santorum set off a furor when he said that if the Supreme Court were to overturn the Texas sodomy law, it would pave the way for legalization of polygamy, incest and other forms of sexual behavior. It did not take long before his words became prophetic. From CBS News on June 26th: “The Supreme Court announced yesterday the first ripple effect of its landmark decision on gay rights, ordering a Kansas court to reconsider its approval of a 17-year sentence meted out to an 18- year-old man for having consensual sex with a 14- year-old boy.” Lambda Legal is a national organization committed to “achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, the transgendered, and people with HIV or AIDS through impact litigation, education, and public policy work.” They have already begun a renewed push to legalize homosexual marriages as a result of the ruling. NAMBLA, the North American Man/Boy Love Association, is another group seeking to advance their agenda because of the decision. NAMBLA's goal is “to end the oppression of men and boys who have mutually consensual relationships.” Consider what is now happening in Holland. Here is an excerpt from a commentary by Presbyterian writer Hans Cornelder: “The Rev. Leen van Drimmelen of Amsterdam, Holland, has caused consternation by publicly asking for acceptance of pedophiles. He was openly supported by several church leaders, including Rev. Richard Vissinga, moderator of the Synod of Holland’s second largest Protestant denomination.” “This is not the first time somebody in Holland has called for acceptance of pedophilia... Now the next step has been taken – the acceptance of pedophilia has been advocated in the church, by an ordained minister, an instructor of ministers, and received the support of several colleagues, including the Moderator of the Synod, the highest elected officer in the denomination… I have also heard enthusiastic descriptions of incest. ‘Can anything be wrong about love?’…Or ‘People are born with that sexual orientation; it is not fair to condemn them to not be sexually fulfilled.’…. To put it in a broader context: the sexual revolution’s gospel was that sexual fulfillment without negative consequences (unwanted off- spring and sexually transmitted diseases) is a right for everyone, one not to be confined to married life only. That has led to the justification of all kinds of behaviors, from short and ultra short sexual relationships, and couples living together as married without being married, to divorce being accepted and advocated much too lightly. On that slippery slope we also encounter same gender sex, pedophilia, incest, polygamy, and whatever else is thinkable. Holland recently legalized prostitution.” Liberals complain that Conservatives want to “legislate morality.” But ALL LAW is legislated morality of some sort. America, if any sex between consenting adults is allowed then we will have prostitution legalized, we shall have incest legalized and we are heading for the legalization of consensual sex of any kind, even pedophilia and bestiality. How about someone who agrees to a huge payment to his heirs if he stars in a “snuff film?” Everyone involved is an adult, all are consenting, so maybe someone dies but there is no crime. They are simply exercising their “right of privacy.” Those of us who find deviant sexual behavior to be repugnant may find ourselves being forced into situations that would have been unthinkable 50 years ago. A Christian minister being forced to “marry” a homosexual couple? A businessman having to pay for benefits to a same- sex “spouse”? "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke (1729-1797) The future of our nation lies bleeding in the windshield of a socialist, humanistic machine driven by a liberal court high on power. If we do not act, the moral integrity of our country shall wither and die and we will be doomed to perish along with it. We must elect men and women of a moral nature that seek to preserve Godly values. We need to take interest in elections, in current events, register and vote, pay attention! We need to pray that the next appointments to the Supreme Court are “decent” and with “moral fiber.” And one more thing: More than ever, we simply need to pray for America. Because the next Man in the Windshield is looking more and more like you and I. ------------ About the author Kimbal Ross Binder: Erstwhile gym-rat, former independent driven by disgust for the Democratic Party into the arms of the Republicans, current parent and expert at puns, jokes that make people groan and eating Debbie's cooking.
