Mar 29, 2004 There is an independent commission holding hearings to determine what happened on 9 / 11. Do we really need all this investigating to discover a bunch of terrorists blew up some buildings and killed a lot of people? I know it isn’t that simple. I also know I didn’t do it. I doubt any other American was involved. What is this obsession Americans have for accepting blame for things they have no control over. We are a nation of finger pointers. Nothing ever just happens, it has to be someone’s fault, we can’t feel good without closure. Closure seems to always take a commission to investigate to let us know we aren’t at fault. Take my word for it we aren’t. Ok listen up; I’m only going to explain this once. It was al Qaida who planned and executed the events of 9/11. A group of discontented Muslim outcasts who have no agenda other than killing. This is a perversion of Islam not unlike the Crusades of old when Christianity was used as a reason for conquest. Not all subscribed then and not all subscribe now. Religious and Political ideology have always been at odds while being complicit. There have always been those who willingly use maximum force to invoke their views. Those who empower them with tacit support are the ones we should be blaming. The UN and our European friends. Richard Clarke is getting his 15 minutes of fame at the expense of those who should be working to prevent the next attach and to eliminate the terrorists completely. The thing that I find so appalling is that the public buys into all of this obviously political rheritoric Common sense tells any half intelligent person no one in Government could have prevented the events of 9/11. Not the Clinton Administration or the Bush Administration. America has forgotten the lessens of its origins. This country gained its freedom using what was then considered by our occupiers [the British] as terrorist tactics. Most civil wars are started by elements who are undistinguishable from the general public. If we are to defeat the terrorists we need to go back and rediscover the lessons learned from past experiences. They need to be fought in their style of warfare, non-conventional We certainly can’t Love them out of existence. I would like to make this suggestion to all Americans. Before buying into what your being told by the Media and those who you hold discussions with ask yourselves. Does it sound plausible; do I believe it could be as stated? What would I do in a similar situation? What is the agenda of the person making the charge? Will it benefit or harm those it involves. . Is it for the greater good? How will it effect my life? I ask you when was the last time the UN, the Europeans or Liberals investigated their behavior for something that went wrong for them? Never happens. Personally I think we have more important things to think about rather than rehashing the events we had no control over. Celebrate those who lost their lives and move on to prevent the next attach. ------------ About the Author: Ken Hughes is a retired businessman.
