Mar 24, 2004 Those Liberals who fear Europe will abandon America, worry not. It’s America who is abandoning Europe. America had a protectionist, isolation attitude until 1939 when it became obvious the Nazi Party of Germany along with a few other European nations had visions of ruling Europe. It can’t be said Americans are slow thinkers. We come from an ancestor of oppressed disenfranchised people. Americas existence can be credited to being able to quickly assess difficult situations and as quickly come up with solutions. America could have easily avoided world war two in Europe. We hadn’t been attached, Hitler hadn’t expressed any desire to invade America. America could have concentrated on the Pacific war and let the Europeans handle their war. There were several reasons we joined the European war. We have a kinship with Europe. America will always stand up to bullies to protect the weak. America had strong economic ties to Europe. And finally because we are who we are. There were dissenters then saying we had no business involving ourselves in a war across the Ocean. Many felt all Hitler wanted to accomplish was put Germany back on its feet and ride the world of its Jewish population. In those days it wasn’t seen as unreasonable. It’s important to know in those days America was more closely related to Europe by blood lines than it is today. Americans of Japanese decent were placed in concentration camps, Americas of German, Italian, and other European decants were untouched. When the war ended America as is its tradition dove head first into rebuilding the world with an expectation it would be a democratic world. America has another tradition we are a forgiving people. We work very hard at making old enemies into new friends. America began to look west and to the Middle East for new alliances and new markets. As our interests grew broader our needs for a European alliance decreased. At this point I would like to point out to our Dutch Friend Johan Peters, In the centuries Europe dominated much of the world they never made an efforts to advance the environment of the communities or the people they occupied. For the most part the people in those countries were no better off the day the Europeans left than the day they arrived . I can assure you I know this from first hand observations. Europeans ruled their conquests with gun-barrel diplomacy. The few improvements they made were made for the White occupiers conveniences. America on the other hand has made the countries they’ve been permanent guests in thriving prosperous communities of the world. America is the largest single consumer of good in the world. We probably waste more than many countries consume. Europe is no longer our main source of trade. We are not only less dependent but we are no longer depended at all on Europe. Not only are we not expanding trade with Europe we are preventing them from expanding trade to other nations. Europe also has a protectionist social system. European good are much more expensive because of social mandates for workers and limited production time has driven their production costs through the roof so to speak. While the rest of the world is willing to work for their living Europeans feel the world owes them a living. And finally I am going to address Europe’s pacifism. I’m convinced Germany, France, Holland and Belgium have yet to forgive America for liberating them from Nazi domination. No national conflicts were ever settled with hug’s and kisses. Europe has practiced pacifistic diplomacy and has always had to rely on the United States to clean up the mess. The UN has yet to stop a conflict or protect the oppressed. Every single region the UN has sent peace keeper there is no peace only conflict. Now the UN is accused in being complicit in one of the largest extortion rackets in history. Oil for food was administered by the UN and robbed clean by Saddam and his co-conspirators the Germans, the French and probably the Head Guy at the UN. If it sounds like I’m being hard on Europe, Listen to what they’re saying about us. How can Senator Kerry say we need these peoples help in Iraq or need then at all. Haven’t they done enough damage in Iraq? I’m sorry Senator Kerry we don’t need Europe and we don’t need you.
