Mar 19, 2004 Reasonably intelligent people can reasonably disagree, right? There’re some things that defy disagreement. There’re several buzz-words created by political operatives that have become part of everyday use. They don’t necessarily represent an accurate description of the facts. Let’s go over a few of the most egregious. SURPLUS, Income projected not yet collected can’t be counted as a surplus, not even the Government is that clever. If they don’t have it how can it be counted? Saying President Bush has squandered the projected tax surplus wouldn’t sound very convincing, would it? I hate to sound redundant but Presidents don’t spend, Congress spends. DEFICITS, Congress deturmins deficits not Presidents. The Congress has total control of the Governments purse strings. Blame those responsible not Presidents. FOREIGN ENDORSEMENTS, For John Kerry to even suggest he’s been endorsed by foreign leaders violates several federal laws. A] It’s illegal for citizens to negotiate with foreign governments with out State Dept. approval. B] Only American citizens are eligible to participate in the election process. C] Foreign endorsements meant to influence American voters are as illegal as are cash contributions. WMD’s, I have yet to have anyone explain to me what a weapon of mass-destruction looks like, smells like or feels like. It seems to me a weapon of mass-destruction can be any size from a pin-head to an Aircraft carrier. I listened to nearly every presentation this Administration gave leading up to the invasion of Iraq. Was it presented with enthusiasm, yes. Was it loaded with deception, no. Is the world better off because of the liberation of 25 million Iraqis, damn right. BI-PARTISAN, This is one of those buzz word that’s been put on a shelf collecting dust. Bi-partisan ended when the New-New Democrats [ Liberal Socialists] took over the party from the McGovern New Democrats Like all Socialists the New-New Democratic Party has an agenda, a one party system governing America. In their opinion if we have them what else do we need. PRESIDENTIAL BLAME, It’s difficult to attach a single buzz word to this. Presidents get blamed for all the ills of the nation and few of its accomplishments. When it goes badly it’s the President, when it turns out well it’s Congress who gets the credit. I doubt the public understands 90 % of the nations business is the responsibility of the Congress, Presidents only have the right of approval or disapproval. RIGHT TO CHOOSE, Liberals want women to have the right to choose an abortion. They deny women the right not to choose abortion. They deny children the right to live. They deny Grandparents the right to grandchildren. They deny America the right to bright minds who perhaps could solve some of the problems claimed by many or even one day become President. I’m not sure how I feel about this, I have yet to make-up my mind. ENTITLEMENTS, Little Mary drops out of school at 16 because she’s pregnant. The father of the child is 13 he can’t be held accountable because he’s a minor. In Mary’s State parents can’t be held accountable for the miss-deeds of their children. Little Mary is now a single Mother who has no qualifications beyond working part time for McDonalds. Part-time employment affords her no benefits. President Bush isn’t providing Little Mary with adequate daycare and health care Little Mary was smart enough to have herself emancipated so her parents wouldn’t be responsible for her predicament. So why the hell should Bill Gates or Me be held accountable? There’re many buzz words. Most of us recognize them with out dwelling on them. If you’re a Conservative you know truth when you hear it, the buzz words have little effect. If you’re Liberal you don’t care. You have your opinion and no buzz words will change them. A lot of allegations will be tossed around in the coming election, most on both sides will be greatly exaggerated and hyped. My favorite buzz-phrase, IT’S YOUR LIFE, YOU DECIDE. If you like the European lifestyle, socialism, Europeans determining Americas futures you’ll probably be voting for Kerry. If you enjoy freedom, independence self-determination you’ll be voting for President Bush.
