Mar 12, 2004 I have no problem with people who are opposed to President Bush when it’s for the right reasons. When they make suppositions based on Liberal Media rhetoric. Only then do I take umbrage. It’s particular objectionable when it’s our European Cousins who attempt to give us distorted explanations of our politics. That’s akin to describing a battle 30 miles out to sea, over the horizon when all you see is the smoke and hear the noise. I’m not chastising Johan Peters for his article, Kerry vs. Bush. I intend to correct some of the untrue, misleading allegations he makes. Kerry is smarter than Bush, George Bush holds a BA from Yale, an MBA from Harvard, he’s a trained F-102 Pilot. These are not the accomplishments of a simple minded person I leave it to you to document Kerry’s accomplishments. I’m sure it’s a short list. Bush has more money than Kerry. Is it your contention the American Presidency is on the auction block to the highest bidder? That being the case why do we spend a year and in-numerable mini-elections to get to a final selection of our Presidents ? Liberals and Socialists haven’t a clue to economics, Let me explain the difference between a surplus and projected tax revenues ( if you’re a conservative I just did.). To count tax revenue not yet collected is not a surplus. It’s a political misrepresentation of facts if you don’t have it you can’t count it.. Not to take something from someone is not the same as giving them something. I prefer to think of it as Bush not giving money to the rich, rather Bush isn’t stealing as much from the rich as his predecessors. How can taxing the rich help the poor? I would also point out to Johan in America, Laws get the Presidents approval only after the Congress has made their decision to make them law. It’s a democracy thing. Unemployment is at the same level as it was in the Clinton Administrations 1994 election cycle. Our unemployment rate is 5% + - a few tenths. The average Euro un-employment rate is what? You also suggested we are in a recession, I think not, even Liberals can’t disagree our economy is out performing the rest of the world. The Clinton Administration had ignored six previous attaches on American interests prior to 9/11 by al Qaeda. Through the leadership of President George Bush 50 million soles are free to determine their own futures, gone are the Religious Police, the Torture Chambers, the Rape Rooms. I don’t think Vice President Cheney would insist an Aid retrieve ducks from the river to save his dog from getting wet.( Uda Hussein) The first time the World Court puts an al Qaeda member on trial if they ever do, I have no doubt the Dutch will feel the sting of the al Qaeda Scorpions. I am always in disbelief when I hear the Europeans objecting to the American Army saving people from the brutal suppression of a dictator. It was a mere 50 years ago the Americans invested, their blood, their wealth and their prayers to save the very people who oppose us today in our efforts to save oppressed people from brutal dictators. You say we Americans have big mouths, we are arrogant, and we spend too much money. I agree we do have big mouths. You say we think we are better than everyone else. We are better than everyone else but not for the reason you say. America is a land that has attracted the best and the brightest of the rest world who become it’s citizens. How can we possibly be anything less than the best when we in fact were from the best of the world? When we see injustice we speak and act .I agree we are arrogant, we’ve contributed more innovation and productivity to the world ( an estimated 75%) than all the rest of the world combined. You say we spend too much and I agree however we don’t call it spending we call it Foreign Aid In my opinion America has earned the right to claim the leadership of the world. I will explain this statement lest I am misunderstood. In the 20 and 21 century America hasn’t claimed one inch of foreign soil. Yet we have defended half the world from the greedy grasp of their neighbors. We don’t do these things for gain we do them for charitable reasons. What other country puts its young people in harms way and pays hard cash for the privilege. President Bush is following in the foot steps of former Presidents both Democrat and Republican making the world safer for democracy. While accepting the security provided by the United States Military the Europeans besmirch our efforts. Kerry would leave the security of the world in the hands of the UN Peace Keepers Is Haiti, half a dozen African Countries and Palestine an example of UN Peace Keeping capabilities? Finally you said you couldn’t abide headless chickens, What exactly has the European community done in the last half of the 20th century to advance the cause of freedom for the oppressed of the world aside from voting on a multitude of un-enforced UN and NATO resolutions? President George Bush did exactly what the Germans, French. Russians and the rest of the UN demanded. He requested and received a resolution from the General Assembly to dislodge Saddam. ( the 17th ). He went before the Congress of the United States and received the same resolution, Senator Kerry was one of the signers. I beg of you Johan please keep writing articles for useless-konwledge.com They give myself and others the opportunity to point out the errors in Socialistic-Euro Liberal rhetoric. You bring up claims that otherwise would slip by us, some haven’t even been concocted by our own Liberals as yet. In America Johan we allow every opinion to be voiced regardless how untrue, how absurd. I think I know why we only allow American Citizens become President and Vote. Thank you God for making Me an American. FOOT NOTE: Today the Espanish people are reeling from an unwarranted attach by al Qaeda terrorists. Those on the trains weren’t a threat to al Queda. Most probably had no opinion one way or the other. While the world cowers indecisively one leader stands and faces the enemy’s of mankind, George Walker Bush. God sends his messengers from time to time, like Moses, Jesus, Mohammed, Buddha those who went before and those who follow are usually crucified for their efforts. I am not suggesting George Bush is the New Messiah. I am suggesting he’s the right man in the right place at the right time for the right reasons. ------------ About the Author: Ken Hughes is a retired businessman.
