Feb 28, 2004 The European Union has fifteen member Countries. May first it will increase to twenty-five. Guess what they’re already having a Cat fight over some disagreements. It’s not unlike our situation with guest workers coming from Mexico. Most of the established Old Europe Countries like Austria, Belgium, and Britain don’t want to allow free access to many of the benefits for the new workers. The argument is the same as we get here, The guest worker will drain the welfare systems. The guest workers will work at reduced wage scales. Guest workers will increase the crime rates. Guest workers aren’t wanted. Even though the guest workers are from new member states, supposedly equal partners. The European Union was formed to give member countries the same advantages in trade as the Pacific Rime Countries by virtue of their lower wages and the United States buy virtue of advanced technology. Europeans aren’t big on sharing, they have always had the “It’s us and them attitude” . They’re Nationalistic and not inclined to be inclusive. The new trade agreements have created immigration problems they would rather not had to face. It seems the old established European Countries hold a bias toward the former Soviet Block Countries that are now becoming their partners. One of the first lessons to be learned in a true democracy is everyone cant have it their way. There isn’t a truly Democratic Government in Europe. Parliamentary Governments tend to be more authoritarian than a true Democracy. A thousand changes wont make Europe the New America, in trade or otherwise. Secretly the World dreams of being American, that’s why they hate us so much, they know there will never be another America. Bear in mind the New Europe ( E.U.) was to become the utopia of Nations. They were to surpass America in social graces, personal freedom, international trade and worker equality. Theirs would be free of all those pesky problem that beset America. AUSTRIA will restrict entry from the new states for a full seven years. BELGIUM will restrict worker for two years and deny access to welfare benefits. BRITAIN will allow workers but will deny workers welfare benefits DENMARK will limit work permits for five years and deny welfare benefits. FINLAND limit work permits to those jobs Fins wont do, renewable year by year. FRANCE will limit work permits to two years then review them, no benefits. GERMANY restrict the number of workers, issue permits for two years. GREECE, IRELAND, ITALY, LUXEMBOURG, NETHERLANDS, PORTUGAL, SPAIN, all have about the same policy’s as the other states. Limit the number of workers, limit their stay and limit their benefits. Maybe America should take a look at this limited benefits thing? MEXICO sorry that’s Americas problem. But with full benefits, so say the French. The ten new countries are, Czech Republic, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Slovenia and Slovakia. All former Soviet Block Countries. Why are they always picking on them? There are two exceptions, RUSSIA is dragging its heels and wont make a decision. SWEDEN has opted out of any workers entering their country. This E.U. workers agreement could very well have been written by John Ketchup Kerry, his friends and staff.
