Feb 9, 2004 I watched Tim Russert interview President Bush on Meet the Press this morning. I must say I was impressed with the Presidents clarity in his responses. He seemed to have total grasp of his agenda. I think I was most impressed with his ability to cut Russert off when he tried to interrupt him in mid-explanation of a question he had ask. He proved in the interview who is in charge, I like that. I must admit the continual attacks by Democrats have given me cause to question some of the Presidents actions of late. When questioned by Tim Russert regarding Democrats accusations the President gave that slightly off sided bite on his lip as he often does and explained it away with one word “POLITICS”, I like that. The current buzz word, no WMD’s. As if that were the only reason to take Saddam out. Once again the President explained to Tim Russert ( The television audience) the reasons for going to war were, Saddam Hussein was harboring terrorists and supporting terrorist activities. We are at war with terrorists. All the creditable information from every source available including the fact he had used WMD’s in the past was only one of the reason for the war in Iraq. The war was fought on humanitarian grounds as well. Wars never follows a script regardless how well planned and executed, Wars can’t be fought where there are no casualties, no collateral damage. Russert ask the President why the Iraqis hate us. The Iraqis don’t hate us they protest because finally they can. They protest because they are practicing democracy the same reason Americans protest. In a free society people are allowed, yes even encouraged to protest. America declared its freedom in 1775, we are still working out the kinks over two hundred years later. Can we expect more from the Iraqis than we do ourselves? Let us look at our own history. The Indigenous population of the New World has resisted the European interlopers for 511 years and continues doing so as we speak. We send our Native population to live on reservations we shelter the Black population in government housing, we supplement their daily subsistence with government hand-outs. We are the ones who are setting the example for the Iraqis to follow. Just for the benefit of those Democrats who’s history doesn’t go back beyond the elections of 2000. George Bush didn’t create the society we live in he’s only trying to correct a forty year history of mismanagement of a Democratically controlled Congress The President didn’t say this but I will. The Clinton robust economy was based on an inflated stock market with no returns, corporate greed, the influence of Special Interests, non-existent technology claims that were smoke and mirrors,. The President inherited the Corporate scandals that were there during Clinton administration but were ignored. President Bush inherited an economy in decline. He has been able through sound physical policies prosecute a two front war on terrorism, reduce the burden of taxes on all tax payers, and breathe life into the economic fires of the nation. Jobs are now catching up to the economic stimulus projections. I shutter to think what Al Gore would have brought to the table given identical circumstances. I hope we never remove God totally from our Government structure lest we piss him off and he stops caring and watching over us. To this the Democrats are only able to counter with, “ He was AWOL for two months”, “He hasn’t found any WMD’s”, “ The Bush family controls the Iraqi oil industry” “ My lying eyes and ears tell me there is no recovery” all of this can be explained but why even bother it’s so petty only the most avid Bush hater would lend it any credence and there not about to listen to reason. I am saddened to think nearly 50% of the voters believe the Democratic Party the line being handing out. The obvious is in front of the public every day, America is doing well, America is vigilant but safe. The problem is the public listens to the sound bits, reads the headlines and never gets to the real story as presented by Fox Cable News and other fair and balanced sources. The National Media is by its very nature is prone to create controversy. If it sounds good and looks good it isn’t news. They aren’t about to be called boring. With the exception of Harry Truman, in three years George Bush has accomplished more than any Democratic President in History. If he where alive today I am sure Harry Truman would still be a Democrat but I think he would be supporting President Bush along with Zell Miller. These are my opinions.
