I Know One Democrat I Liked
Jan 8, 2004

I am a conservative Republican, My passion for politics extends over 50 years. That doesn’t mean there haven’t been a few Democrats I’ve admired. There have been two that come to mind, Harry Truman and Zell Miller. I’d have to think hard if there where any more.

President Truman came to the office less prepared than any President since George Washington. President Roosevelt had to know he was a dieing man when he selected Truman as a running mate. He offered Truman no incite to the task he had to know he would be handing over. He only meet with Truman once for less than ten minutes. The world is fortunate indeed Truman followed Roosevelt as President and not a Howard Dean, Wesley Clark or an Al Gore. President Truman’s accomplishments where monumental, I cant even imagine what any of those three would have done. In those days politics was practiced by Gentleman and not Liberal-terrorists. You will notice I have changed my definition of the Democratic Party to the Liberal-terrorist Party. I believe there are still Democrats out their that are not of the ilk of the Liberal-terrorist Party running things in this coming election. There are still Democrats who have a legitimate opposition to the Republican agenda, I have no problem with that. The Democratic Party took a left turn headed to the bottom of the pit during the McGovern campaign in the early seventies. It’s still down there wallowing in the mud, muck and filth. Lets hope they can start the clime back to truly representing the people and not their own interests. I would like to see a fair contest, there should be rules governing the conduct of both parties and the dignity to abide by them.

Zell Miller is a man I can respect. He’s what they call a good-old-boy down south, don’t confuse that with a red-neck Zell Miller knows as much about Shakespeare as he knows about Willy Nelson. It was a shame to lose him from the Congress, he was a balancing element between Conservative and Liberal in the Senate. Howard Dean has greatly misjudged the south with his condescending attitude. Those dumb Hill-Billy’s from below the Mason-Dixon line have contributed as equally to the prosperity of America as those Damn-Yankees from up north. Dr. Dean I fear has slipped his traces to use an old southern vernacular. Most of the Democrats have lost sight of the fact George Bush is a southerner, he may not have been born in Texas but he lived most of his life there and understands the south. The south understands George Bush, warts and all. Once anyone has lived in Texas any where else they live their just visiting, home is always Texas. Zell Miller and George Bush are a lot alike, all Country.

It’s hard to paint all Democrats with the same brush. There are still those who are willing to compromise in order to make this great country run smoothly. There are a lot of hard cases who won’t give an inch. If we had term limits for congressman there would be less incentive for hard ball politicking. This is an issue that will have its day, some day. The tide is turning from the Liberal, politically correct, harsh attitude, socially entitled to a more evenhanded, equally balanced approach to Governing. This election will produce a more moderate Congress, with that some of the excess will be re-visited and God willing we will once again become equally franchised.

I’m sure I sound like an apologist for the Democratic Party, not so. I’m trying to point out we’ll never gain access to altering the thinking of moderate Democrats unless we try to understand where there coming from politically. That doesn’t mean we necessarily need to agree with them but we do need to listen to their side of the issue, then we tell them how stupid they are.

These are my opinions. You form yours.
