Dec 25, 2003 Out in the wilds of Western Wyoming there’s a little critter they call a Prairie-Dog. They’re a wily little things, they live in burrows in the ground. When they come out they stand very still and very straight sticking their heads up looking around surveying the landscape. If they don’t feel good about what they see they go back in their holes to wait for a better time. Does this sound like Hillary to anyone? Every week or so she comes out of her burrow makes some idle chatter listens to see what follows then goes back underground. Is she running in 2004? I don’t know and I’m sure she doesn’t either. This sounds to me like the Nine Presidential hopefuls are the warm-up act for a Barbara Streisand Concert. (Bab’s) Hillary is standing in the wings. If all goes to her satisfaction she’ll come out singing. If not she’ll leave the other poor suckers on stage to suffer the rage of the audience. By goes well I mean if it looks like George Bush is in trouble for any reason. If the Democrats find themselves in a favorable position in the 2004 election you can bet Hillary will be in the drivers seat driving the bus. If on the other hand George Bush looks like a clear winner in 2004, Hillary will be in her hole waiting for the next good day. She will then began her quest for the Presidential nomination for 2008. Hillary is bent on becoming the first MS. President. Those who would vote for Hillary rise your right hands, now rise your left hand. If she is elected we’ll all be holding both our hands in the air. It’ll be the biggest robbery in history. Do the Republicans have a chance of de-railing Hillarie’s ambitions of becoming President, Slim. There’s only one chance as I see it. Dr. Condaleezza Rice. She has more going for her than Hillary. She’s smart, ambitious , articulate, well groomed, has International negotiating experience in the Exertive branch of Government and she’s Black. What in these politically correct times could the Democrats possibly accuse her of, Not much. Her problem is she has been to good of a Soldier in the Bush administration, by that I mean she has been quiet and hasn’t made any waves. They could say she was a shill for George Bush but that is after all a quality in a subordinate. She needs to be groomed, she needs a stronger position in the administration after the 2004 election.. She needs to be made Vice President or at the very least a full Cabinet Member. The Republicans can’t afford another Mr. Nice Guy like Bob Dole. We can’t afford to run someone because it’s their turn. Politics is hard-ball and must be played that way. As much as it hurts me to say this, Hillary is the most qualified Presidential candidate the Democrats have. If any one thinks she spent eight years in the Whitehouse baking cookies you’re badly mistaken. She spent eight years as an apprentice. A President in waiting. Bill Clinton was a lyre, a thief, a scoundrel, but above all he was an astute politician. Hillary was his number one advisor. Republicans can’t afford to underestimate either of them. These are my opinions, you form your own. ------------ About the Author: Ken Hughes is a retired businessman.
