Dec 15, 2003 Candidates, how many ways can they say they hate each other and keep smiling? The remaining eight are on Howard Dean like Buzzards on Road-kill. Once it was polite disagreement, then harsh disagreement, them bitter disagreement, now it’s disagreement with expletives. What next Senator Clinton? What next Senator Kerry, mooning ? In some ways Presidential Campaigns are little more than outright deception. Presidents are elected for four years some are re-elected, they never serve more than eight years, they move on. Senators on the other hand serve in perpetuity. Presidents have very little real power in Washington, outside of Washington they’re Gods, they move Mountains. The real power in Washington is in the Senate. The House is where omelets are made, the Senate is where they’re turned into Eggs Benedict. If all the attention is directed to the Presidential Campaign. Races for the Senate and House go less challenged. In the election of 2004 Republicans need to concentrate on changing Congress, The President will survive. The Republicans need a clear majority in both the House and the Senate. The intentions of the founding fathers were clearly “One Man, One Vote”, (Yes Barbie in those day they where all men). When the Democratically controlled Senate was able to corrupt the process by requiring a majority of sixty votes to uphold passage of bills, actually to even get a vote to the floor. This needs changing, in order to change it the Republicans need to control sixty votes It’s a Catch 22 ( for those under forty it Sucks). I am confident President Bush will win re-election. God and the American voters will see to it. I am more convinced than ever, Seeing how President Bush was elected and what he has accomplished. “ There is a God, he’s watching and answering President Bush’s Prayers”. The more I see of George Walker Bush the more he reminded me of Ronald Reagan and Teddy Roosevelt. They all have the same Don’t let Bad Guys Win, Good-Old-Boy, Cowboy attitude .It wouldn’t surprise me if George has a Confederate Flag hidden somewhere on the Ranch. I don’t recall one Cowboy who didn’t do well as President. When writing your Congressman it’s far more effective if your letters are sent to their local offices in there home States. Mail in Washington is filtered closer than air in an Aid’s research laboratory. E-mails from constituents are treated like Spam. By the time some Intern reads your message the election will be over. On the other hand those in the local offices have far less to do and they pay closer attention. The messages from the local offices get back to the Congressman by virtue of a desire to get close to his or her Majesties. One approach if the idea has merit “ I had this idea I would like to share” if it’s not “ Look what some Nut wrote to you” either way the message will usually get through to it’s intended. It’s called human nature or suck-up, I won’t use brown-nose. I have embarked on a new strategy when discussing politics with Liberals. Rather than try to implant truth in their warped little minds. I ask questions, I ask them to explain their positions to me. I ask why a lot? Why do you say that, Why do you think that, Why would someone tell you that? If you’ve ever wanted to hear total confusion ask a Liberal why they believe something. You’ll never get a clear answer. Usually they revert to something a Republican President once said. One of my favorites, when they talk about Conservative Talk Radio Shows they say they never listen. My question is how do you know what is being said if your don’t listen? All you hear is “Well Uh” repeated a dozen time’s. It just doesn’t get any better than this. These are only my opinions. You must form your own. God bless all of America. ------------ About the Author: Ken Hughes is a retired businessman. A political junkie who's passion is the re-education of Liberals and Term Limits for Congress.
