Dec 11, 2003 The Government as we speak is working on new rules, regulations, laws and taxes for the purpose of controlling the Internet. The last of the un-regulated freedoms we enjoy. Not only is our own Government trying to control the Internet business so is the UN. A meeting will be held in Geneva Switzerland, Dec 10th through 12th 2003, By a special United Nations committee to spearhead the total domination of the World-Wide-Web. Internet. e-mail, e-commerce, e-everything to control, regulate and tax. We know the Internet is a Rose Garden built on a Garbage dump. It’s our Rose Garden and our Garbage dump. I for one don’t want Governments messing with my Roses or my Garbage. On an un-regulated Internet I have the right if I like to use Racal slurs or not as I choose. I can course or praise God as I choose. I can receive porn or block it as I choose. I can donate to worthy or unworthy causes as I choose. I can express my political and religious views as I choose. I don’t worry about the Politically Correct Police coming to my house to arrest me. I don’t have to pay for my thoughts via an Internet tax. I don’t even have to use my real name if I choose. I have used the words “I choose” six times in this article so far. In our day to day activities how many times can “We choose” without Government regulations dictating our conduct? wkwyt@un.gov/congress is an acronym for “We know what your thinking here at the United Nations Government and we’ll tell your Congressman”. I don’t think it’s up and running yet but I know their working on it, you can bet on that. As I said the Internet is the last truly free voice we have. Watch this subject closely, so far it hasn’t gotten much coverage by the National Media. It’s one of those things we shouldn’t let slip by un-opposed. Please allow me to switch gears. Along those same lines, thought control. Something I came across on the Internet caught my attention. The site was hosted by a National Print Journal. I point this out to show how fair and un-biased the press can be. I decide to respond with an op-ed rather than a letter to the editor. I received an e-mail back from someone I perceive to be a candidate for an Associates Degree in Journalism. This obviously unpaid Intern suggested I define the word Liberal more precisely. She thought it was being used to freely these days. She also suggested I prove my opinion with more credible research from other sources. Now there’s an oxymoron, I have an opinion but in order to be heard I must credit someone else with it. I suspect this young Lady was herself a Liberal and was using her position to suppress an other wise cogent opinion. Liberals do that you know. Switching back, The Internet should be as sacred to us as our right to worship religion. The freedom to bear arms. The freedom of speech. These freedoms are being taken from us, slowly, quietly and deliberately by Liberals. Each of the Nine Democratic Candidates for President has expressed their intention to bring America into the World Community. This means the UN and the EURO’S would exorcize more authority over our daily lives than our own Congress. I am not particularly a fan of Congress. Given a choice I will go with what I know rather than what I don’t know. Americans have spent two hundred twenty five years making sure Europeans or Anyone else didn’t come here and take what we so proudly posses, The freedom to do as we damn well please as long as we respect the rights of others. Liberalism is a virus eating away at our freedoms from within. The only way to stop it is to cut it out is at the ballet box. We must vote the Liberals from both Parties out of office in November 2004. Yes I am still a Republican. ------------ About the Author: Ken Hughes is a retired businessman.
