Dec 31, 2003 Preface: It would seem as though directing the question and answering it is not what is actually required. But the compiling of stats and information that has very little to do with the actual subject at hand. The information that is presented does not actually address this question, but rather it is the compilation of research as to what is affecting the youth. That is; drugs, teenage pregnancy, abuse, drop out rates, crime et al. It content does not offer solutions to these problems that co exist. Nor does it do anything more than drive home certain age old social status “ fact” and perhaps intimates certain ideas as to what can be done, it does in fact circumvent the question posed. I could, as compliance offer up the usual cut an paste information provided in selected articles. I could glean from them of how bad teenagers have it. And how dismal teenage life is. And of course quote numbers, experts and so on. I could reiterate the retinue of information that has been so brow beaten as it becomes moot. Or I could, go on and actually answer the question that was posed. But that dear reader is not what they are asking for. They are not interested in the social impact or the commentary. But of the mechanical and compliant. Of those that can cut and paste and spit back what is thought of as a college paper. Of those that parrot and reiterate what has been so done and overdone that the original site of the query has long been forgotten. Of those that literally beg for the goodness and grace of the teacher so that they will pass and not have to retake the forsaken class again. This dear reader is another reason so many children fail and the system fails them. The powers that be can see no further than the nose on their face or the ink in their quill. They see not the content, but the structure and the checklist of things hat must be accomplished. And who has set forth these rules.. Who indeed has set fort these inane rules in their place first? Who gave the great power to certify those long before such as things as certification. Only God has that power. And man is but a mortal pretending to be that god and almighty. Creating within its guides and misleading rules that they themselves make up. And then demand, nay, ground shakingly demand that all follow or loose at the game. Am I the only one that knows this.. No, our children know this all to well. And these two sets or more of rules that even the rule makers refuse to follow but demand that all others follow. Are why so many of our teens and youths simply give up. So in closing and before actually answering the question, I shall say.. I don’t care if I pass or not.
