Aug 15, 2003 I've decided to take a break, this week, from conveying my thoughts on current events and policies. Its time to have a little fun and fire a few shots at my favorite whipping boys...the Left. It is fascinating to me, how the Left can contradict themselves, their "coveted" beliefs, and pretty much backflip and belly-flop all over the place, and many people don't seem to care. These people continue to take their daily meds (you know, 1 cup of the "special" kool-aid) and soak up everything that their beloved liberal Democrat officials spew out. Apparently everyone must be held accountable except them. Of course this is primarily because of their proud, stalwart lapdog, the elite media. It seems to me that duplicity must be one of the Left's core values. Well, if you can call that a value, that is. Here are a few examples of the Left staying true to form. Democrats blew a gasket when George W. Bush had the gall to defend our national interests and security in Iraq without a U.N. mandate. Yes, a more stable Middle East, in the long run, is in our national interest. Although U.N. Resolution 1441 gave us legality in our actions, the Left doesn't let little things like FACTS get in the way of their arguments. These same Democrats that demanded multilateralism in Iraq(which we had, by the way), have been screaming at George to say screw multilateralism, lets go bend over for North Korea. Japan? South Korea? Who the heck are they? Most Leftists, Al Sharpton in particular, have been hammering Bush for his hesitancy to throw thousands of our Marines into the middle of a civil war in Liberia. I saw Al on one of the nightly news programs. He was talking about how we needed to get in there pronto because of all the suffering that the Liberians are enduring. Gee, I guess the Iraqi people were living in paradise, weren't they Al. Well, Saddam was a socialist. To the Left, that does qualify as paradise. Interesting. The ACLU is fighting to have a 10 commandments monument removed from an Alabama courthouse. The Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court has vowed not to take it down. He was given some help by one of my very own Indiana congressmen. Republican representative John Hostettler got an amendment added to a bill that would defund any attempt to remove the monument from that courthouse. In California, Democrats tried to give $400,000 to fund an AIDS memorial. The funding was taken out of the original bill due to protest, but was slipped through on a last-minute trailer bill. Whats the connection? The AIDS memorial is to be in the shape of the Aztec god, Quetzalcoati. Oh, I guess that Christian icons and symbols are the ones that are a no-no, everything else is cool. Lets get this straight. The Left want to have taxpayers pay to remove the 10 commandments AND pay to build a memorial in the shape of an Aztec god. Are you kidding me!? On a lighter note, do you remember when the Bush daughters were busted for underage drinking? The media ran rampant with that story for about a week or two. Guess what. The fine, "fiscally conservative"(HA), former Governor of Vermont, Howard Dean, appears to have a mischievious child himself. It seems that his son was the driver of the getaway car for some friends. He, and his friends, were busted on June 20 for stealing booze from the Burlington Country Club in Vermont. Now how could the news media miss that story? Oops, I almost forgot, Howard Dean is the Left's hero. They couldn't risk his potential presidential nomination over something as insignificant as that, could they? Besides, Bush was already in office, how could dragging his family through the mud hurt anything? There is one thing that I just can't figure out. Why do people still take the Left seriously? They have consistently proven themselves to be a joke, albeit, a very bad one. Yet they are still a powerful force in American politics. Thank God(or for Leftists, Quetzalcoati) that their power is diminishing. This is evident, not just because of the current composition of the Legislative and Executive branches of government, but also by their almost daily temper tantrums. Thats O.K. though. Keep it up Lefties, before long your proud Democratic party will be about as significant as your "red-headed stepchild", the Green Party. We can only hope. ------------ About the Author: Jonathan Robbins is a 29 year old father of 3, living in Indianapolis, IN.
