Bring Them On
July 3, 2003

"There are some who feel like, that conditions are such that they can attack us there. My answer is: Bring them on. We got the force necessary to deal with the situation."
- President George W. Bush on Iraq, 2 July 2003
How this statement is burning up the Liberal Democrats! How hysterical they have been since the President made that statement! They would prefer, as they would ALWAYS prefer, to see the President of the United States bow his head and meekly beg the terrorists and Saddamite elements left in Iraq to please stop their murderous activities. They would prefer to hear the President offer to placate these rag-tag groups of killers by offering them concessions, including letting these gangs with guns take over Iraq and force the United States to leave by murdering our soldiers.

Did these people learn NOTHING from Mogadishu? Nothing at all?

Am I being generous by calling them stupid and incapable of learning from the past? Should I call their attitude by its true name, anti- Americanism? People who work to bring about the defeat or humbling of their own country are called traitors by every law of every government of every country in the world. Are people who merely advocate such things much better? Insisting that the United States should run away from a few thugs with rocket- propelled grenades is advocating cowardice at the very least, not to mention the inhumanity it would show to the Iraqi people who need us to rebuild their country after the Hussein horrors. The Liberals bashed the first President Bush for not helping the Iraqi people overthrow the Hussein government in 1991. When he said that the people would have to start the process of overthrow themselves, no one expected the Shi'ites to rise up on the spot... and having just signed a cease-fire agreement with the recognised government of Iraq, America was helpless to interfere. Now that we have removed Saddam Hussein ourselves after his violation of that cease-fire, do the Liberals really want us to walk away, to turn our backs on the Iraqis, to pull another Mogadishu?

For those with short-term memory problems, Mogadishu (in Somalia) marked the absolute nadir of American military might, and American pride, since 1776. On October 3, 1993 soldiers of the Rangers and Delta Force were ambushed by Somalis armed with automatic weapons and rocket-propelled grenades when sent to capture the warlord Mohammed Farah Aidid. After 18 soldiers had died and 84 were wounded in 17 hours, President Clinton ordered the rest to leave Somalia, and resumed negotiations with Aidid instead. As Osama bin Laden gleefully put it in a 1998 interview with ABC reporter John Miller:

"...our boys were shocked by the low morale of the American soldier and they realized that the American soldier was just a paper tiger. He was unable to endure the strikes that were dealt to his army, so he fled... After a few blows, [America] forgot all about those titles and rushed out of Somalia in shame and disgrace, dragging the bodies of its soldiers. America stopped calling itself world leader and master of the new world order, and its politicians realized that those titles were too big for them and that they were unworthy of them. I was in Sudan when this happened. I was very happy to learn of that great defeat that America suffered, so was every Muslim..."
President Clinton would never have said "bring them on". It wasn't in his nature to stand up against an enemy, especially one using terrorist tactics as in Mogadishu. It was his nature to talk to, to bargain with, to appease the enemies of this country. President Bush understands that if we run away with our tails between our legs now, after all that has happened, the days of the United States as a world power are over, not to mention our days as the most powerful country on the face of the Earth.

But isn't that exactly what Liberal multiculturalists really want? Anyone who wants to humble, hamper, cripple, hobble or attack this country is its enemy, pure and simple, no matter where they're from.

Bring them on.
