July 24, 2003 Yes, I read the conclusions of the Berkeley Study done by the four university researchers. First of all, much of what they say marks so-called conservatives is basically what marks Western-Judeo-Christian Civilization. One can only imagine how repugnant that is to our Four Researchers. The part of the study which finds conservatives as aggressive people is interesting because for the past 40 years I've watched Liberal interest groups take to the streets in rampage and rage. The Jesse Jackson Blacks who riot, the Homosexuals who riot, and the Environmentalists who riot, are not exactly what we would call 'Conservative'. These aren't the groups who vote Republican! Can someone find me some Newsreel footage of White Evangelical Christians overturning cars, burning buildings and beating people in the streets? Anyone, please! Our Four Researchers are quite disoriented by their study because they use the wrong models to draw their conclusions. They say that Stalin and Castro might be considered politically conservative in the same fashion as Hitler and Mussolini. This should immediately clue us into the extreme bias of the Four. If it is conservative, it is evil. The fact is that Mussolini, Hitler, Castro and Stalin were all Secular-Socialist-Stateists --- probably like our Four Researchers. Reagan and Limbaugh, who are compared to Hitler in the study, are anything but Stateists. Our Four Researchers fail to note that Left and Right is a spherical proposition, and is NOT linear. The extremes of each lead to the same Totalitarian Pole. What really makes a person conservative is Ideals+Time. Note who resists change when it comes to School Vouchers, Welfare Reform and Affirmative Action. The self-proclaimed Liberals resist these changes because they FEAR losing their influence and power. As for the conclusion, by our Four Researchers, that conservatives cannot integrate complex thoughts, they must have missed the fact that Conservative Talk-Radio has a massive following. In order to listen to conversation coming from a radio-speaker, one must nearly master complex thoughts. Most of the Liberal constituency, outside of their upper-crust masters, probably plop passively in front of T.V.'s night after night, having wasteland images endlessly thrown at their minds. Further, it is Liberal interest groups who vote in massive blocks, regardless of the fine-points of policy and practice. Our Four Researchers better hope conservatives don't stop thinking in complex fashion because, if they start voting in block, our Four Researchers will be out of business. Now, for inequality. It wasn't conservative Supreme Court Judges who voted against EQUAL protection under the law, it was the Liberals. We should note, however, that it is before LAW that the Bill of Rights wishes us to stand as equals. Equality as a societal practice is not found anywhere in our Founding Documents. It was found in the documents of the failed blood-bath known as the French Revolution. We are not equal except before God and the Law of God. Before each other and secular society we must go on our merits and abilities. As for the abilities of our Four Researchers, it has escaped their notice that Evangelicals worked to stop slavery in the British Empire. They have forgotten that it was WASP's who fought against the Caste system in India. They must have over-looked the fact that Apartheid came to an end under the Reagan Administration. Our Four Researchers should note, however, that the two Liberals in Congress who will love the Berkeley Study the most are Robert(pass me my hood)Byrd and Ernest(raise those Stars and Bars) Hollings. In short, our Four Researchers have a bent view of human nature, a skewed research model, and a profound ignorance of the past 500 years of Western history...yes, I mean Judeo-Christian History. ------------ About the author: Joe Magoo is trained as a Theologian and Church Historian.
