Dec 27, 2003 After reading Al-Qaeda Issued New Threat, I worried. Has the Christmas heat wave taken its toll on the editorial staff in AU? Do you not hear ringing in your ears? After reading your report on Al-Qaeda's latest video head games, I realized we in the United States do not always play our parts as the world press sees it. You see, we had a wonderful Christmas. Not tense with fear or anything so dramatic as waiting in nervous anticipation. We are Americans. We do not run scared, nor do we cower to anyone. No, but we will respond if attacked and we will follow the lead of our President when asked. We don't commit suicide for 7 anything's but dying for freedom, yours or ours, now that's different, it's the American way. We will not quiver in fear nor will we ever retreat. The world should know, we will defend our freedom to the last man. Oh, one more thing, if they ever hit these shores, it may take us a minute to respond, because we are careful not to deny another's freedom on the way. But to the aggressor I say this, the American Constitution gives us the right to keep and bare arms. The world may see us as overweight cowboys, over indulged and over confident. Come to America, and you will never see the end of an over reaction. An over reaction to the last man! Do or die, freedom will be defended. And like I said Mr. Editor, yours or ours it doesn't matter, it's simply the American Way. When the last shot is fired, the world will hear something basic and right, it will be the sound of freedom, ringing loud and clear. So, until we actually do play Cowboy's and Al-Qaeda's, let "W" take the fight to them. Come out of the heat and have for some leftovers? Turkey with mayo, hot apple pie and an ice cold Dr Pepper! You can't get more American than that! An America for Freedom Irving, Texas ------------ About the author: Jeff D. Riley is a second generation Italian American who lives in Texas.
