Gene LaBargeOct 31, 2002 Can you get much lower than this? This memorial service for Senator Paul Wellstone turned out to be more of a pep rally than anything else. What kind of people jeer others who wish to pay their respects? What kind of people give speeches that amount to no more than a "get out the vote cry"? The liberal democrats also appear to have forgotten that Wellstone was not the only person who died in the plane crash. They can try to convince people that Paul Wellstone would have wanted it that way, but can they speak for everyone? It is even more amazing when you consider that the democrats said there was a moratorium on campaigning until the following day. The "event" left even Governor Jesse Ventura disgusted. They said things like "if Paul Wellstone’s legacy comes to an end, then our spirits will be crushed". Is that what Wellstone’s own party thinks of his accomplishments? If they don’t win this election then what he has fought for all his life was for nothing? I guess they don’t think what he has done has any lasting value. They said it, not me. The democrats have offered up Walter Mondale as the new challenger. Mondale has been out of politics for ages and appears to be just a yes man for the party. His past achievements can be summed up as dismal at best. He only offers up problems that need to be fixed. Like most liberals he can only point fingers at the opposition and has no solutions. Nobody knows what the result of this year’s election will be. One thing we do know is that the liberals will do anything to win. I wonder what Wellstone would have really thought about all of this. ------------ Gene LaBarge is an aspiring political commentator and publisher of several websites including abfnews.com.
